Selene POV
"No! It's not what you think!"
The letter disappears from my hands. Rex holds it high above his head, out of reach.
I jump for it. My fingers brush air.
"Give it back! Rex, please—"
He's too tall. Too strong. I can't reach.
His eyes scan the letter. Fast. Furious. Each word makes his expression darker.
My stomach drops.
This is bad. This is so bad.
"So." His voice is deadly quiet. "You lied to me."
"No! I didn't—"
"You said you didn't love him." He crumples the letter in his fist. "You said he betrayed you. That you wanted nothing to do with him."
"I don't! I—"
"Then explain this!" He shoves the crumpled paper toward my face. "Explain why you were reading his love letter like it was the most precious thing in the world!"
