Kim got to Flora’s house that morning and met her at the dining table having her breakfast. The house maid had already met her at the door and carried her bag into one of the rooms where she would be staying “Hello,” Flora said getting up from her sit and hugged Kim. “How was your night?” she asked. “It wasn’t good at all,” Kim made a sad face. “Sit and let’s have breakfast together,” Flora waved her hand to the sits opposite her own, making Kim to sit down facing her. She signaled the maid who walked up to them and dished out food from the big bowl into Kim’s plate. She grabbed her spoon and began eating; she was rushing the food so fast that Flora had to stop eating and just watched her. “What’s going on with you?” she asked after watching her for some times without her noticing. “Huh,” Kim said looking up from her plate, her eyes met with Flora’s. “You are rushing your food, are you that hungry?” she asked again. “Yes, I am so hungry,” Kim answered with a mouth full, as she chewed and swallowed the food in her mouth. “I went to bed hungry last night,” She said, lifting the glass of water from the table and had a drink from it. “Why?” Flora asked becoming interested in the gist. “I told you my night wasn’t fine, I met my aunt and her boyfriend making out at the kitchen.” “What,” Flora gave her a wide grin. “Yeah,” Kim nods. “That’s so gross, why didn’t they do it in their room, knowing you were at home?” Flora asked. “That’s my point exactly,” Kim said and scoped a spoon into her mouth and began chewing. “And when I tried confronting her, she told me it was her house and can do anything she wants to,” Kim Lied. “That’s so bad of her, well if you don’t feel comfortable staying there again, you can come live with us here.” “What!” Kim exclaimed. “You don’t mean it?” “Of course I do,” Flora flashed a smile. “That would be so nice,” Kim expressed. “Okay, I will go get my things later,” she said and continued eating. She was so happy that after all this years, she would be living that God forsaking environment and stay in a well furnished house like that of Flora. “Mean while after eating we will be going to shop for my birthday party later in the day,” Flora announced. “Sure, I will gladly go with you,” Kim smiled. Melissa woke up that morning feeling better than the previous night, treatment the doctor had given to her was working very fine and she beginning to feel good, but that morning she didn’t feel like going to school and wanted to stay in her room and study, when she went down stirs to eat that morning, she asked Catherine after Leo, which she was told that Leo was home preparing for school that morning. Her food was served and Kim just played with it, she still does not have appetite to eat and took a little bite so it could help her drugs work faster, her mind was clouded with the thought of Leo, she had really missed Leo, and haven’t seen him for a whole day was the longer they had stayed without seeing each other. Melissa Knew Leo didn’t love her, but what she is sure of is that Leo liked her as a friend and would be worried knowing that she is sick, she had already decided in her mind to go see him later that day after school closure. “Hey, why are you not eating your food,” Catherine asked her, after a while of staring at her from a distance. Melissa looked up and saw Catherine staring at her, as she took a deep breath. “I don’t feel hungry,” she said. “But you haven’t eaten a good food since yesterday, and you need food to help in the improvement of your health,” she pointed out. “I know,” Melissa nods. “Do you want me to come feed you?” she asked her. “You are so funny,” Melissa scoffed, and ate some more. “Okay I will leave you to your food seeing that you are now eating,” Catherine said, and took a step to leave. “Did you tell Leo that I am sick,” Melissa asked her. She turned around sharply upon hearing her question. “Yes I told him, and he was so worried,” she said. “Okay, thank you for keeping an eye on me last night,” Melissa finally said. “It’s nothing,” Catherine replied and left the dining room. Catherine on getting to the kitchen had a knock at the back door of the kitchen she went over and opened the door seeing that it was Leo. “Hey son, what brought you here, I thought you said you were do big coming over here to help your mum,” She teased. “It’s not that mum, what about the Jackson’s? Have they left for work?” He whispered. “Yes they have, and why are you whispering?” She asked him. As she asked him to come inside, Leo followed her in and sat down at the dining chair inside the kitchen. “What would you like me to rustle up for you, I can see you are set for school,” His mum said and went to check on the food in the pot which she was preparing. “Mum, I am good, I can here to check up on Melissa,” He said. “Oh that,” his mum turned to look at him. “I thought you said you would check on her when you close from school?” she asked, going over to the cupboard to get a glass, she poured him a glass of chilled juices and handed it over to him. “Yes that was what I thought, but seeing that I have extra lessons in school today, I might not get back early. “Okay, Melissa is at the dinning eating, so you can go there and see her.” “Okay mum,” Leo stood up and was about going to the dining when he remembered Mr. Jackson’s warning not to be seen close to Melissa. He turned around again and asked his mum, if Melissa’s parents were out already, just to be on a safer side, his mum was surprised over the repeated question but assured him that they were out. Leo got to the dining room and saw Rosita clearing the table, she asked her about Melissa, whom he was told that she just left the dining room back to her room just now. But that he could go up to her room to check on her since he is there to know how she was doing. Leo thanked Rosita for giving him the permission to go up to Melissa’s room, as he climbed the long stair that led to Melissa’s room.
