My eyes flew open as I came up swinging, fighting off the monster that plagued my mind. When I heard Bane’s voice, I calmed, stilling. A sharp throb resonated from the back of my head, and the rest of my body ached. I tried to raise my head, but Bane, with gentle ease, held my shoulders flat on the bed. “Don’t move, Love.” His voice soothed me like a lullaby. I clung to it as if it was my lifeline.
