I silently pace the perimeter of the warehouse. Silas has been relentless in trying to get to Amelia to make her find the rest of the portals, but I won’t let him risk her life. When I saw her tumble down the stairs, my heart stopped. When she landed at the bottom she didn’t even move. She was lifeless and I thought I had lost my daughter, but I could hear her heart beating quietly. Nathaniel didn’t waste a second. He scooped her up and carried her upstairs. I quickly followed him up. She had a small cut on her head but I could see it was already starting to heal but I’m sure she would have some bruises when she woke up.
