Hayden POV
“So this is it?” Dad asked.
We both stood beneath the large stone arch, looking out across the desert that would soon become a battlefield. The heat was intense I could feel the sweat coat my skin from the sun beating down on me, and the location wasn’t ideal, but at least it wasn’t in the middle of a town or city, at least here innocent people wouldn’t be killed. Looking around filled me with anticipation of what was to come, the landscape was rough and the heat would be against us, there was a steep slope just below us that would cause us some problems but we could manage, large rocks stood to the side of us but we could use them to our advantage. The thing that didn’t sit well with me was the fact we were sitting ducks. We were out in the open with nowhere to hide.
