When Maggie pulled in the parking lot for her building, she noticed Mike’s bike. Cool, he had beaten her there. She walked up the stairs on the outside of the building and turned right to go toward the door of her apartment. Something was wrong. Was the door hanging open a crack? Had Mike seen her pull in? Had he opened the door for her? That seemed too weird. She turned and went back down the stairs to her car. She unlocked her trunk and took out her gun case. She had been to the firing range today. She took out her 9mm and tucked it into her open purse. That would keep it out of sight until she got back up the stairs. Fifteen seconds later, she eased it out and kicked her door open.
