“What are you doing here?” The cold, angry voice interrupted Dora and Ethan’s thoughts.
“Ah, Lucian, you’re here? But it seems little sister-in-law doesn’t want to see you~~ she was just…” Ethan didn’t finish, his words cut off by his friend.
“Ethan, I want to speak with my wife alone,” Lucian said, deliberately emphasizing the words “my wife,” his eagle-like eyes locking onto Dora’s uneasy expression.
“Uh, I just remembered, there are some familiar faces waiting for me. I’ll go now,” Ethan said with disinterest, scratching his nose before quickly walking away.
With Ethan gone, the atmosphere between the two grew tense.
“Although we didn’t invite many people today, I don’t want more people to know about our marriage. You shouldn’t be disobeying my orders so casually,” Lucian said, his brows furrowed in displeasure.
“I know,” Dora muttered, but she felt it wasn’t her choice. After all, who had insisted on a public notarized marriage without a wedding banquet? And now, he was blaming her for casually showing up!
She grumbled to herself, shoveling a big spoonful of pudding into her mouth. The sweetness slowly calmed her frustration, and a small smile tugged at her lips.
Lucian, noticing her soft smile, felt a sudden flutter in his chest.
He’d seen her smile before, but why did it always have this effect on him? Every time she smiled like that—so sweet and graceful—his heart just seemed to skip a beat.
She was his, wasn’t she? No matter what she felt, he knew exactly what he wanted—her.
The intensity of his gaze made Dora feel uneasy. Without thinking, she nervously licked the cream off her lips.
The small gesture only fueled the fire in Lucian’s eyes. Without thinking, he wrapped his arm around her waist and started to pull her toward the door.
“Hey, what are you doing? Let go of me!” Dora struggled, trying to keep her voice low so as not to draw attention. But she couldn’t break free from his strong hold.
“Lucian?” It was as if he had heard Dora’s silent plea, a soft male voice came at just the right moment. It was Andrew, the CEO of Andrew Technologies.
With a look of bittersweet longing, Andrew’s gaze softened, making Lucian’s expression even darker.
“Hello, Mr. Andrew. I didn’t expect you to be here. Sorry, but my wife and I have matters to attend to. Please, make yourself at home,” Lucian said, his cold eyes sweeping over Andrew before he kept walking, pulling Dora past him.
“……” Lucian, do you still despise my feelings for you? Even though I would never betray you? Andrew silently smiled, but his smile was no longer pure...
Dora didn’t ignore the look Andrew gave them as they left. Strangely, it seemed like the kind of gaze one would give to a lover.
“Does he like you?” The sudden question startled Dora herself and froze Lucian in his tracks.
“You like him.” Without hearing his response, Dora’s suspicions were confirmed. But the answer caused the tiny spark of affection that had just begun to grow in her heart to wither instantly. Ah… my poor first love.
Seeing the visible regret and disappointment on her face, Lucian’s brow furrowed even tighter, his gaze sharp. “What? Do you like him?” His words pierced through her thoughts, and Dora’s face flushed with embarrassment.
“N-no way!” She didn’t want to waste time arguing over something so trivial. With that, Dora pushed his hand away and quickly ran toward the lounge.
Her shy expression only seemed to fuel Lucian’s prideful anger. Taking large strides, he quickly caught up with her, his cold gaze now ignited with jealousy, making him look less like a cold machine and more like a man consumed by his emotions.
Breathing heavily, Dora rushed into the lounge. Just as she was about to close the door, Lucian’s hand shot through the gap, forcefully stopping her from shutting it. His large hand gripped her wrist with an iron hold.
“Ow, let go!” Dora was terrified by the fire burning in his eyes. She avoided his gaze, trying to break free, but no matter how hard she struggled, it was useless.
“Hey, let me go, please. I’m sorry… can you let go of me?” She was scared. She knew this was their wedding night, but she didn’t want to be forced into anything, especially not without feelings between them.
Her tearful eyes only made her delicate features even more heartbreakingly beautiful. The trembling from her body seemed to silently beg him to stop…
Without giving her any chance to resist, Lucian pulled her close, his arms tightly around her waist. He kissed her forcefully, his tongue invading her mouth with unrestrained passion, trying to draw out any response from her.
“Mmm…” Dora had never been kissed like this before. Her heart was torn between shame and helplessness. She repeatedly pounded on his shoulders, trying to push him away, but he didn’t move an inch. As her wedding dress was about to be ripped from her body, Dora could no longer hold back the tremors running through her.
No… don’t… Her silent tears ran down her cheeks, shaking his composure. Lucian suddenly pushed her away, turning his face to avoid seeing the tears on her flushed face, afraid that if he looked at her again, he wouldn’t be able to stop himself.
“Stay here and don’t leave. I’ll have food brought to you, and someone will come to pick you up in the morning,” he said coldly, throwing a few words over his shoulder before rushing out of the room, his steps hurried and disordered as if trying to escape the fire inside him.
The door slammed shut behind him, and Dora could still hear the loud bang echoing in her ears, but for some reason, she felt a strange sense of relief.
Did… did he stop just in time? If he hadn’t…
Dora shyly groaned, covering her flushed face with both hands. The unfamiliar emotions swirling in her heart mixed with a sense of panic, yet there was a quiet longing she couldn’t ignore.
“Does he like me? Does he?”
