Chapter 5 The Secret Nest

1084 Words
“Bang. Bang. Bang.” The frantic, violent knocking jolted the woman inside awake. Jenna An slipped on a robe and went downstairs, her eyes swollen and red from crying all night. The moment the door opened, a sharp wave of alcohol hit her senses. A tall, unsteady body collapsed against her without warning. “Lucian…?” The sadness in her eyes disappeared in an instant, replaced by shock—and then a wave of happiness—as she saw the man she both loved and hated. She had spent the whole night crying over his sudden marriage, never imagining that, of all nights, he’d show up here—right in their secret place. Her heart skipped a beat, filled with a wild, hopeful excitement. “I want you.” The desire burning in his body had been stoked all night, and now he wanted nothing more than an outlet. He wasn’t thinking about anything else. He pulled her closer, his grip tightening as he yanked at the belt of her robe. The cool air hit her exposed skin, and his gaze darkened. A soft, broken sound escaped her lips. The desire building inside her took over her thoughts, and her body instinctively leaned into him, wanting more—deeper, harder. Lucian pushed her down, his actions rough and relentless. The rest of it all blurred into heat and chaos. Later, the room still carried the lingering aftermath of their intimacy. Lucian had regained his composure. He straightened his clothes with a cold, mechanical calm, then sank onto the couch, lighting a cigarette. There was no trace left of the man who had lost himself an hour earlier. “Lucian… will you stay tonight?” Jenna wrapped the robe around herself, her voice soft, hopeful. “I have work.” He didn’t even look at her. Coming here had been nothing more than a release. Now that it was over, he had no patience left. Coldly, he pushed past her and headed for the door. “Don’t go!” She rushed forward and clung to his waist, her tears soaking into his suit. “Don’t test my patience.” His back remained to her, his voice sharp. “Let go.” “I know you hate my brother, but I love you! I really do! Please don’t leave me alone. Doesn’t my love mean anything to you? I would never betray you like her—I—” “Jenna An.” He turned, cutting her off with a voice so cold it froze her in place. “Do you even understand what you’re saying?” The look in his eyes made her stumble back. “I… I didn’t mean it,” she panicked. “Please forgive me. I won’t make you angry again. Please don’t leave me.” “Too late.” He stared at her as if she were a stranger—worse, an enemy. “This ends here. The villa is yours. I’ll have someone send you a check. I don’t want to see you again.” “No…” She watched his back as he walked away, finally realizing that this time, he wasn’t coming back. “Lucian…” No. She wouldn’t allow it. She loved him. And she would never give up. Lucian was in a foul mood the second he walked out of Jenna An’s place. He slammed the car into gear, his hands death-gripped on the steering wheel. Why were all women the same? They all promised they wouldn't get caught up in feelings, but in the end, they always tried to trap him. They actually thought they could use "love" to tie him down, dreaming that they’d be the one to finally wear the crown as Mrs. Yin. Please. They were going to be miserable. The Yin family already had a "lady of the house" now, and frankly, one Dora was already more than he could handle. A cold, mocking smirk played on his lips. His eyes were like ice. Maybe it was the money—it always was. By the time he pulled up to the office, the building was pitch black. Only a couple of security guards were hanging around the lobby. "Uh, CEO? What are you doing here?" one guard stammered, looking like he’d seen a ghost. Nobody at the office knew Lucian had actually gotten married today. They just figured he was on another one of his late-night warpaths. "Open the gate," Lucian snapped, not offering a single word of explanation. "Y-yes, sir!" The guard scrambled to hit the button, and Lucian’s car roared into the private garage. Dora hadn’t slept a single minute. She’d spent the entire night huddled in the hotel’s VIP lounge, her mind on a loop. Every time she closed her eyes, she felt him—the way he’d pinned her, the heat of his breath, the terrifying weight of his body against hers. Knock, knock. "Who is it?" Dora stood up, trying to shake off the exhaustion. She looked tired, but she forced herself to stand tall. She didn't want to look weak in front of whoever Lucian sent. "Good morning, Madam. I’m Old Li, the Yin family butler," a kind-faced older man said with a warm smile. "Master Lucian sent me to take you home." Dora felt a tiny bit of relief. At least the butler seemed nice. "Okay. Let’s go." But that relief vanished the second they reached the mansion. "Wait... what?!" Dora stared at the massive master bedroom. "I’m supposed to share a room with him? In here?" Her heart started thumping against her ribs. Just the thought of being in this room when the sun went down made her skin crawl. Memories of his hands on her skin from yesterday came rushing back. "Butler... whose idea was this?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Master Lucian’s, of course," Old Li chuckled softly, thinking she was just being a shy new bride. "You mean Lucian... he actually ordered this?" Dora realized she was panicking and tried to steady her voice. "Yes, Madam." Old Li bowed and slipped out, closing the door behind him. Dora was left standing in the middle of the room, feeling like a lamb in a lion’s den. No way. No freaking way. Did he really think she was just going to play the "obedient wife" and crawl into his bed after everything?
