*Chapter 15* Jayden swallows a gulp down his throat, staring down at her."How will someone like you get me speechless? I was just shocked."He rambles. Evelyn beams a little smile, she knows that her beautiful appearance renders him speechless but he doesn't want to admit it. Of course, he is an arrogant human being. Eve smirks at her boss."Shocked about what? About my beauty, right?" His well-shaped brows snap together."Your beauty, my foot. Whoever told you that you're beautiful is probably deceiving you. Because you are not." He only said that because of his ego but deep down in his mind, he thinks that she looks gorgeous, like the queen of the night. Normally, he has noticed her flawless beauty since he saw her today. But today, she looks more beautiful. She is capable of winning ten beauty pageants at a time, owing to her beauty and confidence. "Why is this crazy lady having an effect on me?"He wonders in his mind."She is nothing special, I have seen a lot of beautiful ladies before." "I think I'm shy with the way your eyes are fixed on me. Don't make it too obvious that you're drooling, Mr. Jayden."Eve says playfully when she notices that he is staring at her intensely, without blinking. Jayden gives a half-shrug. He has been caught staring at her like a creep. He throws her a deadly glare and enters his expensive car. Evelyn chuckles. She loves how the table is turned. Now, she is the one in control. She is the one getting on his nerves not the other way around. Finally, she will be able to get her revenge for always annoying her at the company. She walks to the other side of the car and enters the car. It shocks her that his driver is not in the car, so he will be the one to drive them to the business dinner date. As soon as she enters, he starts the car engine and the car begins moving out of her neighborhood. Silence reigns in the car. It is uncomfortable for Evelyn, after all, she is a talkative. She clears her throat, breaking the silence."Where is the business dinner going to take place?" She gazes at her boss with a questioning look, waiting for his response. Maybe, he is going to snub her. "Grenade Hotel."He hoarsely replies. Her mouth falls open. Grenade Hotel is the most influential hotel in their city, only rich business people, politicians, and popular celebrities are allowed there. She hasn't been there before, despite her family's wealth. Her mouth curves into a smile. Finally, one of her wishes is going to come true. She is going to dine in the Grenade Hotel today. "What happened? Don't you like the hotel?"Jayden's voice jerks her into reverie. "I like the hotel. Like is an understatement. I love the Grenade Hotel. I'm just happy that we're going there."She rambles happily. He glares at her."But, you were pissed off because I offered to take you along to the date." She glares back.``That was before. By the way, you didn't tell me that the dinner is gonna take place in Grenade Hotel." "Whatever! You haven't appreciated me for the gown, Evelyn."He states. She swallows hard. She oddly likes the way her name slips out of his mouth. The way it sounds calm and deep, especially with his thick Italian accent is everything to her, right now. No one has ever pronounced her name like that before. "Evelyn, say 'thank you, sir".He orders her. She gives a half-shrug."I don't like the gown. It's not beautiful and it has old designs. It's not even my style."She rants. She loves the gown but she doesn't want to appreciate him. He gazes at her for a few seconds, before focusing his attention on driving."Wow! A bimbo like you has styles." She smirks."Have you ever seen me wear a gown like this?" "That is because you can't afford it, dummy."He blurts out, glancing at her through the rear mirror. She raises her eyebrows."What do you mean?" "Burn."He laughs out loud, exposing his dimples. Her cheeks turn crimson red."It is not funny." "Of course, it is."Jayden mutters amidst laughter."Now, the score is 1 - 1." "Childish CEO of Turner Industries."Eve scoffs. She ignores him and faces the other side of the window, enjoying the beauty of the darkness. The ride to the dinner date becomes silent once again. *** Jayden and Evelyn arrive at Grenade Hotel, after a few minutes of driving. Evelyn glances around the hotel in awe. The hotel is worth the hype. She concludes that she will visit the hotel again when she has a break from work. The dinner date has started already. It is more like a party. Evelyn senses that they're not here for business, it is just like having a fun time. Maybe, following Jayden to the party won't be a disaster for her. That is if he won't get on her nerves. "I don't want you to talk to anybody, except the normal greeting," Jayden informs her, as they walk into the hall. She frowns."Why?" "You're here with me, so obey whatever I say."He mumbles. "Are you kidding right now? What is the essence of coming to this place with you, if I can't socialize?"She snaps at me. He shrugs."I don't know. Just don't talk to anyone." "I will."She utters. Jayden stares at her briefly, as if he is telling her not to dare him. Someone beckons at him to come over. He holds Evelyn's hand and both of them walk there, just like a couple. Evelyn feels like smacking him or giving him a hard knock on his head, for instructing her not to chat with anyone. She won't listen to him, anyway. So, what is the use? Jayden introduces her to some of his business partners. Evelyn senses that he took her along to this date so that he can have a partner. All the men have a lady with them. She doesn't know whether the ladies are their employees or girlfriends. The date is going well. Evelyn doesn't add to the conversation going on. Not because of the order her boss gives her, it's because she doesn't know much about what they're going about. She just sits there watching them talk about stocks and partnerships. "Look whom we have here." Evelyn hears a voice behind her. She almost screams when she sees the person who talked just now. She can't believe that Morris Anthony is behind her. Morris Anthony is the CEO of Greenade Hotel. He is a young billionaire, just like Jayden. He is good looking and Evelyn has been secretly crushing on him. "Jayden Turner," Morris says, grinning from ear to ear. Evelyn notices that Jayden has a blank look on his face. He doesn't look happy to see Morris. "Morris Anthony," Jayden mutters. Morris's eyes notice Eve and they pierce into her beautiful brown eyes. "Hi, Senorita."He smiles at her flirtatiously. Eve feels butterflies in her stomach. She finds it hard to believe that her crush is talking to her and beaming a sweet smile at her. Morris stretches his hand. She is about to receive his handshake when Jayden suddenly holds her hand, his grip on her wrist is tight. "She is Evelyn and she is my ……."He pauses for a second, then says."Secretary." Morris ignores Jayden, then wink at his secretary."Can we dance for a few minutes, pretty Evelyn?" "No."Jayden snaps before Eve can even say anything. Morris ignores him again, still facing Evelyn."Can I get your phone contact, pretty?" "Yes."Evelyn answers. "No."Jayden barks. He stood up, glaring at Morris."You know what? We're done here." * "Why the heck are you acting so possessive? You don't give me the chance to talk to my crush," Evelyn says to her boss when they are in his car. Jayden scoffs."That manwhore is your crush. You're really a dummy." She let out a loud hiss, folding her arms over her chest."I don't even know why you're acting like my boyfriend. My boyfriend doesn't act like this."She mutters under her breath. He gazes at her in shock."Wait, do you have a boyfriend?" "Of course." Jayden swallows hard. Nothing comes out of his mouth, he only starts the car engine. Soon, they reach her house. He doesn't tell her 'goodbye' or mutters a word. He drives the car out of the neighborhood after she alights from the car. "What's up with this arrogant and inconsiderate man?"She wonders.
