Chapter 17

Emily stares at Jayden in shock. She feels on top of the world, she is so happy that he addresses her as his girlfriend. She didn't know that it would be this easy to win his heart.

Mrs. Turner had told her that getting her son is a difficult task. But, lucky her, she is able to make him fall in love with her. She feels like the luckiest lady in the world.

Unknown to Emily, Jayden said that to make his secretary jealous, not because he likes her.

Jayden tightens his grip on Emily's body, he thinks that the little smile on Evelyn's face will disappear and turn into a slight frown.

That is not the case. Instead, the smile on her face becomes wider.

"Wow!" Marian exclaims. "Congratulations, Mr. Jayden! Your girlfriend is beautiful."

"Thank you."Emily blushes.

"Congratulations, Mr. Jayden!"Evelyn also says, giving her boss a knowing smile.

Jayden glares at her, he doesn't like the fact that she congratulated him.

Seems like his revenge plan has gone wrong. For the first time in his life, he admits that he just made a mistake. He somehow feels like a fool. Why did he call Emily his girlfriend because of Evelyn? Is he in the right state of mind or what?

Jayden's phone beeps for the umpteenth time since the beginning of the day. This Monday will be very long for him, especially with this morning's drama.

He checks the phone. It is the same texts he has been receiving, starting from midnight.

Jayden let out a loud hiss."Is this girl jobless? If yes, she should get a damn job."He wonders, talking to no one.

His phone beeps again. He doesn't bother to check the phone anymore, after all, he knows that the texts are from Emily. She keeps spamming him with silly messages, since the end of the silly date on Sunday.

He regrets calling her his girlfriend, but now she is happy and taking it very seriously. She has been acting like a damn girlfriend. His mother is also pleased with him, not knowing her son is not serious about Emily.

He snaps out of his train of thought and tries to focus on what he was doing earlier. It is not up to a minute that he turns to the computer when his phone rings. This time around, it is a call, not a text.

He draws a long breath. He is indeed in trouble. His soul is also in trouble.

He steals a glance at his phone. Of course, it is Emily. He hangs up the call instantly, hoping her common sense will tell her that he is probably busy.

Maybe, her common sense indeed tells her about his schedules. She doesn't spam him with texts or even call him, for a few minutes.

After twenty-five minutes, Jayden hears the sound of a knock on his door.

"Who is that?" He asks.

The intruder clears his or her throat."Evelyn Jones. Can I come in, sir?"

She has been acting formally towards him after the business dinner date. He knows that he is the one who messes up by getting unnecessarily jealous and behaving like a he-goat. He misses her old self, the sassy secretary he knows, not this gentle secretary. He doesn't care if she has a boyfriend, he wants the old Evelyn Jones.

"Mr. Jayden," Evelyn mutters.

"Come in."He gives her permission.

Evelyn walks in, her heels making sounds. She bows her head a little, greeting him."Your girlfriend is outside asking for you. I told her to wait, so I can ask for permission."

He lifts his eyebrows."Emily?"

"Of course. She is your girlfriend."She answers.

He scoffs."Why is this lady so clingy? Tell her to get lost. I don't want to see her face. Also, tell her not to come back to this office anymore."

Evelyn's eyes narrow."I'm talking about Miss Emily, sir. She is your beautiful girlfriend."

"You heard what I said, right? Don't bother you, do as I say."

"I can't do that, sir."She refuses bluntly, shrugging her shoulders."That is very rude, especially to someone important to you."

"She is not important to me."He barks.

"You don't have to shout at me, Mr. Jayden. It is very rude to tell your girlfriend to get lost."She utters."It is going to hurt me if my boyfriend does that to me."

Jayden tightens his fist."Must you bring up your boyfriend?"

Evelyn chews on her bottom lip, gazing at her boss in confusion."It is not a big thing. I'm just using that as an example…"

She continues."I'm sorry if it is wrong for me to mention my boyfriend."

He shrugs."Tell the security to walk Emily out of this place. I don't want to see her here, you're going to take the blame for it if she appears in my office."

"Okay, sir." She says and walks out of his office.

Jayden prays silently in his mind that Emily should leave the office. He only needs a peaceful environment for now, not one filled with crazy people.

He waits for a few minutes, but Emily doesn't come to his office. He waits for an hour, he doesn't catch a glimpse of her.

He concludes in his mind that Evelyn and the security officials were able to calm her down and take her out of the company.

It is closing hours. Evelyn logs out of her computer and begins to pack her things into her handbag.

Her phone rings, interrupting what she is doing. She beams a smile when she sees the caller. It is her boyfriend, Raymond.

"I am in California, sweetheart."He announces happily.

Eve pouts her lips."Don't tell me you're joking."

"I'm not joking, Evelyn. I just came back this morning."

"Show that you are not pulling my legs."

"I am sure that you're done with your work. I will take you on a date at night."He states.

"Don't disappoint me, baby," Eve mutters.

"I am coming to your workplace now to pick you up."

"My car is here, Raymond."

"My driver will come along with me. He will drive your car to your house while I will take you on a surprise date."

"I can't wait."She said happily.

Jayden keeps staring at her secretary like a creep. He doesn't hear the discussion she is having with the person on the phone, but she seems very happy. He wonders what can make her secretary have this big smile on her face.

He is about to walk from where he is hiding when his phone beeps.

He takes a deep breath, praying that the person should not be Emily. He heaves a sigh of relief when he finds out that the caller is one of his business partners, Zachary.

He instantly picks up the call, wishing that Zachary has something important to tell him."Good evening, Mr. Zachary."

"I think we need to talk about the company in Florida. I have an idea about buying it."Zachary says.

Jayden's eyes lit up. He has been wanting to buy this particular company. Having the company as one of his assets is going to be a big win for him and his father will be very happy.

"When should we talk?"He asks.

"I will send you an address now. Let's have a meeting. Hope you don't mind?"Zachary queries.

"I'm okay with the meeting."He mutters.

Both of them say "goodbye" and hang up the call.

Jayden receives a text immediately. It contains the venue of the meeting. He steals a glance at his secretary who is grinning from ear to ear. He concludes that he will tell her to accompany him. Maybe, it will also be an opportunity for him to talk to her. Talk to her about anything or get on her nerves, as before.

Evelyn applies lip gloss on her lips, a smile is plastered on her face. She is very excited about Raymond's arrival. All of a sudden, she feels someone's appearance in her office.

She looks up, her brows furrowing when she sees her boss standing in front of her.

She gazed at him with a questioning look. "Sir?"

He shoves his hand into his pocket, staring down at her. "We are going for a meeting now."

Her jaw drops. "We are done for the day, Mr. Jayden."

"I don't think you have a chance to tell me that. Remember that I'm your boss." He says arrogantly.

Evelyn glares at him. His psycho character is back. Well, she will also switch to her sassy character.
