Chapter 2

1586 Words
Asha sat in his wheelchair and stared at the koi fish swimming in an artificial pond decorated with several lotus plants, unfortunately the lotus flowers did not appear to be blooming at all so the view of the pond did not attract Asha's eyes. Asha had been in Zane's body for two months and during that time, many of Zane's memories were starting to come to his attention, but there were still many fragmented memories and most importantly, Asha could not remember the entire book 'Crown Prince who took off his crown'. “Damn, it’s been two months since I’ve been in Zane’s body but neither my memories nor the real Zane’s memories are completely remembered. Zane is also just a minor character in the book ‘The Crown Prince Who Takes Off His Crown’ so there are only a few things about Zane and even then I can’t remember everything. What is certain is that Zane will die before he is 17 years old and his death will not be because of his weak and sickly body but because of something else. Ahh why did I forget something important?! Why did Zane die then? He was paralyzed, always at home and didn’t interact with other people so what made him die?”, Asha muttered to himself in a low voice while staring at the koi fish swimming around the pond. "Ah! There's only one possible reason for Zane's death: betrayal. What if General Thylane was accused of treason, and his entire family was executed? Aah, but that's impossible. As far as I remember, General Thylane was one of the most loyal generals to the Emperor, and he had a very good reputation. So what caused his death?" Asha picked up a bengonia leaf beside him and absentmindedly began to chew it. "Young master, if you're hungry, I'll make you a snack. So, please don't just chew the leaf," said the servant girl named Gene softly. Zane removed the bengonia leaf from the corner of his mouth and smiled at Gene, gently asking, "Dear Gene, what's a good snack to eat while fishing?" "Huh?" Gene looked confused by her young master's words. "I'm bored. Give me a fishing rod and I'll take the koi for soup. So, make me a snack while I wait for the koi to come to me," Zane said, pointing to the koi swimming around the pond. "Sir, if you want fish soup, I'll ask the kitchen to make some. You don't need to catch the koi," Gene replied, confused and resigned. "Oh, no. I just want to fishing that koi. I can't leave the house, so I must can do anything at home. Hurry and get me a fishing rod," Zane looked at Gene with a mischievous smile. Gene couldn't refuse her young master's orders and immediately found a fishing rod and bait for him to fishing the koi in the pond. Zane leisurely waited for the koi in the pond to eat his bait. Meanwhile, he instructed Gene to prepare the grill for the fish. Gene reminded him, but Zane ignored her and continued with his plan to eat the grilled koi from his pond. "Wow, this koi is quite big, huh?" Zane stared at the freshly cooked grilled koi. Gene could only watch as her young master slowly ate the koi. Gene thought to herself, "Young Master seems to be getting more energetic by the day, and I'm so happy, but why is he getting more and more naughty? He's always up to mischief. I hope Madam doesn't find out." It seemed like Gene's words were a prayer, and Madam Thylane, who had been out of sight for some time, finally appeared, witnessing Zane eating the koi fish by the pond. Madam Thylane was known for her gentle and kind nature, which led Marques Thylane to fall in love with her and accept her as Zane's new mother. In reality, this wasn't the case; Madam Thylane only loved her own sons and daughters and neglected the children of his concubines. However, she always appeared to love and care for Zane in front of others, but not in her heart. Zane clearly knew Madam Thylane's hatred for him and knew her affection was false. "Zane! What are you doing? Do you want to get sick again and cause more trouble for others?" said Madam Thylane, who had arrived with two of her servants. "Oh," Zane turned and looked at his stepmother, who was wearing a different outfit than most people in the Odessa region. Her long dress was full of lace and the top was sleeveless, with only a lace that hung like a balloon on her shoulders. Not to mention her hair was decorated with ribbons and transparent lace that matched the dress. Her glass shoes also seemed to reflect light every time she walked and lifted her dress. The Lyndsey Empire had a variety of cultures and styles in each region. Well, like Odessa, Asalie, and Hisa, which use buildings made of wood, bamboo, and stone, buildings that rarely have more than two stories. The buildings are elegant, simple, and have natural colors. Likewise, the clothing, which generally uses some kind of clothing with wide sleeves. If Zane compares it to his world, the Odessa, Asalie, and Hisa regions have a culture of dress and buildings similar to China, Japan, and Korea. Clothing such as hanfu, kimono, and hanbok, the buildings also resemble houses from ancient Chinese dynasties as well as ancient Japanese and Korean kingdoms. Meanwhile, other regions such as Lindsen, Visola, Faxon, Zoie, and Liv have buildings and a European-like style of dress, with luxurious cement buildings and sturdy pillars, and clothing consisting of suits, shirts, and lace dresses. What is quite different is Quanika, which generally wears the attire of priests and nuns, similar to the Catholic era in ancient Rome. The rest is mostly a mix of several other cultures. Madam Thylane herself was a noblewoman born in Zoei, with a strong European flair. Even after her marriage to General Thylane, she occasionally wore her dresses, which seemed out of place in the Marques Thylane mansion. Zane stared at his stepmother, who couldn't hide her hatred and dislike for him. Zane had met his stepmother several times over the past two months, and all of them were when his father was around. She was a master at acting, so he hadn't initially thought she hated him. However, his memories made it clear, and now he could see everything clearly. "Did you just come back from somewhere? As far as I remember, Father didn't really like the bird's nest dress," Zane said, smiling at his stepmother. Madam Thylane looked annoyed and quickly approached Zane, suppressing her anger and hatred. "What did you say?" Zane had learned a bit about his family that he hadn't learned from the original Zane's memories or from his own memories from the original novel. It's clear that this isn't explained in the novel, as Zane is only a minor character, much like Madam Thylane. But after asking Gene and having her investigate a few things, Zane learns a lot. Like the fact that his biological mother, General Thylane's first wife, and the woman who accompanied General Thylane from his youth, when he was still a commoner general and later became a count. His mother was the daughter of a general who was also General Thylane's senior and who helped him become a count. Although his biological mother's family didn't have noble titles, among the soldiers, her family was highly respected. General Thylane fell in love with his first wife from a young age, and the two married after General Thylane returned from war and was later given the title of count. After becoming a count, General Thylane was given the territory of Odessa to rule and finally visited the capital of Lindsen for the first time to meet the Emperor. It was at that time that his stepmother met General Thylane and fell in love. Unfortunately, General Thylane already had a legitimate wife, who became his countess. However, because she loved General Thylane so much, her stepmother willingly became a concubine and accompanied him to Odessa, which at that time was less peaceful than it is now. Perhaps General Thylane's position at the time was not so strong, so he couldn't refuse the girls offered to him. Misfortune befell his first wife, who was waiting in Odessa. After giving birth to Zane, her health deteriorated, and not long after General Thylane returned to Odessa with several girls gifted by the Emperor and other nobles, his first wife died. The current Madam Thylane eventually became his legal wife. However, despite being his legal wife, Lady Thylane was still deeply afraid of losing her position, which resulted in the tragic deaths of the concubines and the difficulty of having new babies in the mansion. Furthermore, Madam Thylane liked to compare herself to General Thylane's first wife and hated her and her child. "Take Zane to his room and feed him only white rice and leek soup for three days," said Madam Thylane, glaring at Zane and then at Gene as if threatening her. Lady Thylane seemed unwilling to deal with Zane any longer and turned to leave, lifting her dress. "Young master," Gene looked at her young master, who was still casually eating the grilled koi fish in his hands. "It's okay, there's still rice," Zane smiled nonchalantly and continued eating.
