MOMENTS BEFORE...
I was on the stairs leading to Emma's apartment, my heart heavy and my mind in turmoil. I had reached a point where I needed to make a decision about the direction my life was taking. My brother Timothy had been clear and direct when he ordered me to quit my job as a freelance marketing assistant under the identity of Bobby Davis. He argued that if I continued down this path, I would not only lose my company but also Emma, the woman I was growing increasingly fond of.
As I contemplated this difficult decision, Miranda, Emma's friend, appeared on the stairs and caught me by surprise. She asked what I was doing standing there, and my mind struggled to come up with a coherent response.
