Three days later.
On a ten-thousand-foot towering mountain in the Thunder Cloud Sea Realm.
Mist coiled around the slopes; jagged rocks pierced the sky. A serene, wild landscape.
On an unremarkable boulder, two tiny figures fought a life-or-death battle.
“Quick! Use Thunder Afterimage to distract it!”
“Circle around to the side!”
“Strike its side-back with Thunder Sever!”
Su Ping stood nearby, commanding via telepathic link.
The larger creature was the size of an elephant, a cockroach-like monster with swift movements. Its body was covered in gray stone armor, its underside lined with sharp cone-like claws. A rare Earth-type Star Pet of the boulder zone—and a natural counter to Lightning-types.
The smaller was no bigger than a house cat, fur tinged purple, crackling with lightning. Its hair stood on end like needles.
It was the Thunder Rat.
Buzz!
Lightning surged. The Thunder Rat darted in front of the Stone Roach.
The monster chased instinctively.
Then a paler purple flash flickered behind it.
The Stone Roach sensed something wrong. The rat ahead glowed with lightning but faded into a translucent electric illusion.
An afterimage!
It wheeled around, but a blinding purple light burst into view.
The Thunder Rat leaped high, lightning condensing violently above it into a compressed, blade-like shape.
Slash!
The lightning blade cut down. The soft flesh between the Stone Roach’s armor plates offered no resistance. Its body was split in two.
Green blood spurted, splattering the rock.
“Perfect.” Su Ping snapped his fingers.
It took only one death to kill this Earth-type Star Pet, far stronger than Rank 1. The Thunder Rat’s power had advanced by leaps and bounds—unrecognizable from three days ago.
And just now, the system had notified him: **Mission Complete**.
“I can’t believe it only took three days,” Su Ping murmured. It was beyond imagination.
But the gain came at a cost. He had died hundreds of times. The Thunder Rat, thousands.
“Mission complete. Closing breeding plane…”
“Host will disconnect from the Thunder Cloud Sea Realm…”
“Temporary contract between host and pet dissolved…”
“Preparing for return…”
In an instant, darkness fell.
When light returned, Su Ping stood inside his familiar pet shop.
Everything felt like a distant dream.
