But the words had barely left his mouth when he shrank his neck in terror. This was the Thunder Cloud Sea Realm—teeming with ferocious beasts. Yelling like that was practically suicide! Then he remembered the temporary contract. With a single thought, he sensed a faint consciousness running just beyond his own. Weak emotions and impulses flowed across the link: Fear. Anxiety. Terror. Escape! These were the Thunder Rat’s thoughts. “So this is the power of a Star Pet contract. No wonder they say master and pet share one mind. It’s impossible to describe unless you feel it yourself…” Su Ping’s eyes flickered. This power had been the previous owner’s lifelong dream—the very line that separated ordinary people from Star Pet Warriors. squeak—! A sharp scream suddenly cut through the distant woods. Su Ping’s heart jolted. He rushed over immediately. At the base of a seven?or?eight?meter?tall giant grass blade, the Thunder Rat’s fur stood on end. It bared its teeth, facing off against a giant insect. The insect was two meters long, bright green with purple patterns. Lightning flickered across its markings. It was also a Lightning?type Star Pet! “Looks like a caterpillar…” Su Ping muttered. But this creature was a hundred times more ferocious than any caterpillar. Dammit, am I gonna get eaten by this bug? Seeing its mouth full of sharp fangs, Su Ping’s scalp went numb. Being torn apart by the giant beast’s wind pressure had been instant death—but being tangled by this insect would be a living hell. He even considered killing himself right away. If he died, he would respawn at a random location. But there were no weapons nearby. Su Ping looked around and spotted a stone on the ground. His expression twisted bitterly. Smack myself to death. How hard did he have to hit to kill himself in one blow? What if he only knocked himself half?dead? The question weighed on him like an unsolvable philosophy puzzle. squeak! Before Su Ping could decide which angle to smash his own skull, a shrill scream pierced the air. He looked up. The Thunder Rat had already been defeated. Wrapped tightly by the giant insect, the creature’s many sharp, centipede?like legs pierced the rat’s soft belly. Blood gushed out. The Thunder Rat struggled twice and went still. Su Ping’s face darkened. He felt pity—and a strange, burning anger. “Resurrect pet on the spot immediately?” The system’s voice sounded. Su Ping froze. Watching the Thunder Rat’s body about to be crammed into the insect’s mouth, he didn’t hesitate. “Resurrect!” In an instant, the rat’s body dissolved into specks of starlight. They drifted to the ground before the insect and reformed into the Thunder Rat. crunch! The insect bit down on empty air. Staring at its prey that had vanished and reappeared alive, the giant bug clearly blanked. Giant Insect: “???” Su Ping wasted no time. “Attack it!” Through the emotional bond of the contract, his command reached the Thunder Rat instantly. The rat stood frozen, its mind still trapped in the terror of death. Su Ping’s shout jolted it awake. Its tamed instinct to obey kicked in, and it charged forward almost without thinking. Lightning Dash! Whoosh! The Thunder Rat exploded into speed and slammed into the insect. Bang! The insect reeled backward—but stopped halfway. Its bladed legs reacted instantly, clamping onto the Thunder Rat and tearing it apart viciously. The Thunder Rat died again. “Resurrect pet on the spot immediately?” “Now!” Su Ping snapped. The second the rat respawned, he ordered it to attack again. With **unlimited resurrection**, Su Ping refused to believe they couldn’t take down this insect. The gap in power was huge, but not unbeatable. Even a one?in?ten?thousand chance was enough—he would make it count.
