The screaming was right behind us now, close enough that I could hear the wet sounds of tearing flesh mixed in with the howls.
Kael stumbled beside me and I had to practically drag him forward, his weight getting heavier with each step.
"There," Liora gasped, pointing ahead where the trees thinned out.
"The border, if we can just make it across."
"What happens at the border," I managed between breaths.
"Curse creatures can't cross easily into human lands," she said.
"Something about the old treaties, the magic that ended the war, they'll have to stop or at least slow down."
