CHAPTER 43 – JOANNA WARSAWThe air was still at this hour, thick with rising heat. Joanna’s watch said that it was barely ten in the morning, but because she’d been awake for hours, she felt a sort of confusion that was often associated with jet lag. The airport seemed bigger and busier than she’d remembered. Before them a group of teenagers had just returned from a school trip. Their parents swarmed the arrivals hall shouting out names.
