CHAPTER 29 – MATTY LONDONOccasionally the dawns in even the grimmest parts of London can be dazzlingly beautiful, so much so, that for a few moments you might forget where you are. Out of the murky half-light hovering above the grotty streets, and the crushed cans falling out of black bin-liners, you see a tinge of pink, like the sky blushing. Then the blush spreads and eventually fades, and gives way to other colours, before finally spilling through into full daylight. In the back streets of Holloway, the sudden brightness springs residents into action. Recently, he’d been half-way through his morning commute by the time the sun rose, so he’d missed the beauty of the dawn, and on weekends, he would, of course, sleep in. Today was a rare exception. Lately, sleep had eluded him completely
