Like all else to do with Lady Alice Featherfax, breakfast was lavish and elaborate. Just the two of us sitting at that dining table, comfortably large enough to accommodate a dozen people, while the butler and a footman busied themselves offering up silver dishes of dressed fish, kidneys, cutlets and roast partridge.
