Chapter 15Newin was excited. This was his first duty spell as a fully-fledged Apprentice Officer. Throughout the long journey, the travellers had maintained a strict training programme for all manner of disciplines. This was an obvious necessity from the point of view of survival, not only on the ship, but subsequently when they arrived at their destination. However they had added a component uniquely theirs.
