"Yes, I'm fine, Laura," he breathed weakly.
"Are you hurting anywhere? Do you need me to call the doctor?" I asked, worry etched deep in my voice.
"Just… stay with—" His words cut off as his eyes rolled back and he fell unconscious.
The door to the ward burst open, and a middle-aged doctor hurried in with two nurses at his side.
"Doctor," I called out shakily as he rushed to Kaden’s bedside.
"He’ll be fine, miss. Please, wait outside," the doctor said firmly. One of the nurses came to my side, gently guiding me out of the room.
