Jason was surprised at the absence of Jessica's new car in the garage as he entered her compound . He knew that she would have arrived from court by now , but the absence of her car meant that she could not be in . Nevertheless , he knocked on the door to confirm .
The maid opened the door and welcomed him in .
" Is Jessica in ?" He asked her .
" No , she has left ."
" Would you know where she might have gone ? I mean , did she say where exactly she was going ?"
" She didn't tell me , but she said that she will be away for quite some time . She packed a few of her personal effects ."
" Well , that could only mean that she is going on a long trip ," he said , quite dejected . " Thanks ."
He walked away and dialed her number . Her phone rang for some time before it was picked .
