Chapter 18
After some ribbing from the others which I mostly ignored while I stuffed my face with dried veggie chips, we climbed on our gravicycles and rode into the sky. I didn’t tell anyone about my conversation with Kaletka. My ability to talk with animals still wasn’t something everyone knew about, and I wasn’t really in the mood to add to my weird factor. After all the drama following my Choosing, I’d decided the particulars of my powers were a need to know detail – and no one needed to know. No new people, anyway. I was sure I would tell Amber all about it later. But for now, I sort of wanted to keep the magic of the day to myself. I felt like I’d been given a precious gift, and since the terrible events of the last two days, I really needed something positive to hold onto.
