Chapter 8 Although I’d been involved in much of the planning for the reception, I’d never actually been to the Hall of Shimmers. My grandmother had thought it would be more fun for me if it was a surprise, and between the planning and my training obligations, I’d been happy to have one less thing to do. So the first time I entered the hall, could I help it if my mouth gaped open? Jade elbowed me in the ribs with her elbow, speaking to me out the side of her mouth. “Stand up straight and stop gawking.
