Miranda’s uneasiness lasted through her nail appointment. It did not seem random to see Chrissy and her new owner. Autumn’s interest in Vaughn and Gary were odd, coming from someone who did not know them. What did she know and what would that mean for Miranda herself?
She slid into the BMW, careful not to ding her nails as she fastened the seatbelt. Her emotions got the best of her during the conversation and probably revealed too much. Miranda dialed Vaughn’s cell number.
“Hey, Miranda.”
She knew Vaughn’s moods, and he sounded tired.
“Everything okay?”
“I had another visit from Detective Reed.”
“Great. What did he want?”
“He asked me about some things I shared with a woman who adopted Chrissy.”
“Funny, I just ran into her myself.”
“What did you tell her?”
