Refreshed from their nap, they headed into the kitchen.
“You must be hungry.”
Autumn sensed Chrissy’s eyes on her as she moved about the neat and efficient kitchen. She held up a bag of food. Chrissy made no indication of being excited about her meal. Autumn scooped some raw food into the bowl and let it thaw for a couple of minutes according to the package directions. Chrissy watched as she placed the bowl on the placemat, but made no move to eat.
“What’s the matter, baby?”
Chrissy looked at her. Autumn dug out a piece of meat from the bowl and held it up.
“Look how good this is!” She pretended to eat it.
