Chapter Ten-2

2629 Words

“Fergus!” Seonaid's hand reached for mine, but now I knew it was she who was seeking reassurance and me who was the fountain of strength. I held her hand and felt the dampness of fear in her palm. I knew that these witches were creating some spell, and I also knew its purpose, although I was too afraid to put the thought into words. “Fergus.” The voice was small, but insistent as it exploded within my mind. I knew it was not Peallaidh, but nor was it Seonaid. For a moment I thought of Aela, but she called me Will. So who was this new person who made free with my mind? “Who are you? Who wants me?” There was no answer, but my perception suddenly altered. I was no longer Fergus, I was somebody else; somebody small and young and innocent and somebody so frightened that I could hardly walk.
