Chapter Seventeen“There is somebody who wishes to see you, Fergus.” I looked up into the friendly yellow eyes of Peallaidh, and wondered what had happened. There was a great peace within me and no voices inside my head but my own. “But take your time; he is only the most powerful man in Scotland.” “He can wait.” I had no desire to meet Albany, or anybody else, until I worked out exactly what had happened in this chamber. I saw Seonaid lying on her back with her arm outstretched and her hand clutching that of a handsome young man and I looked at Peallaidh, who nodded. “That is her husband,” he said. “He has been returned to her.” “Returned? By what power?” I was unsure how I felt; there had been many times when I would have liked Seonaid for myself, but I knew that was just selfishness.
