Chapter 15

Chapter 15: Narrator

In the next few months, Tessa works on honing her abilities with Jackson. They practice sparring and she tries to target him with the wolf spirit energy as they practice. She is becoming stronger and faster at reacting and will aim her energy toward him. Jackson has officially joined the pack. He has also agreed to help build some houses around the property. Instead of a normal packhouse, they are going to build a common area building that will have a main place to eat, some entertainment, a gym, and other common areas to relax. For privacy and respect, they will build individual houses around the property. They are also going to work on building a community garden to help support bringing in food naturally. Luckily, wolves are good hunters, so they can go search for game meat at any time.

Jackson is going to keep running his bar to generate more income and is looking to expand over the next several months. He plans to add more dining space and he might add some rooms for people to stay over, like a bed and breakfast. He is going to split his time between both places but will eventually need to hire an operations manager to run the bar. If they get any new pack members, he can employ people at the bar to provide them with stable jobs to earn income.

While Jackson focuses on his already established revenue generator, Tessa is consulting on social media engineering. She has strong technical abilities and she is capitalizing on her skill set to make money to bring into the pack. She is self-taught since she didn’t pursue college or a technical school.

In addition to all the renovations and practice, Tessa has been experiencing increased dreams. In her dreams, she is reality-sharing with different wolf spirits from her ancestors. Her parents have come to visit her often in her dreams. Of course, they can’t talk in wolf form, but she gets a general sense of what they want to share. They are letting her know they are proud of her and her accomplishments. They think she is going to be an excellent Alpha and leader for the pack. They believe she is so strong to persevere through these challenges that have been put in front of her without her even knowing her own story.

Little did they know they were being watched on the property, a shadowy figure was keeping their distance and cloaking them from detection. Only so many species had the power to cloak, but it almost always meant that the person was extremely strong in their abilities. Tessa and Jackson were in the middle of building a garden, digging up the dirt and tilling the area. Jackson was building a wooden fence around the large space and was in the process of putting up chicken wire and attaching it to the wooden posts to keep unwanted grazers away. Deep in concentration, they failed to notice a floating figure moving toward them. The figure made no sound whatsoever.

Then all of a sudden, the figure disappears and quickly reappears in a puff of purple smoke in the garden they are building. The smoke makes a noise and startles both Tessa and Jackson.

“AAAAHHHHHHH,” both screamed at the unexpected intrusion. Tessa raises her hands ready to attack but is caught off guard when the figure, who is a purple-haired person, starts to laugh hysterically.

“Got you both!” and she continues to laugh hunched over.

Tessa and Jackson both give each other looks, like what the heck is going on and who on earth is this person.

“Can I help you?” Tessa said to the purple-haired lady while also mind-linking Jackson.

Did you really just scream like a girl?

No, I didn’t scream. You did!

Right, that’s what you're going with.

“Well, I don’t mean to interrupt your internal dialogue, but I am Amara, a witch, of course. I was drawn to this place and have been observing you for a few days. You seem low-key, nice, and welcoming. I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation about starting a pack. I left my coven a few years ago and have been jumping from town to town trying to find my place. I try not to run into other werewolves as they are not big fans of witches, but I promise I won’t pose any harm and I don’t practice dark magic. I am just looking for a home and friends. And now that I am closer to you, I can see why I have been drawn here. You are a very powerful summoner, the energy is just oozing out of your aura. What a pleasure to meet such a rare species.”

Well, that was a curveball. A witch looking to mingle with werewolves. Jackson and Tessa couldn’t contain their surprise but, as usual, this didn’t phase Tessa. Her wolf spirit was already providing her with a gut instinct about the unexpected situation. She didn’t know much about her aura and what witches could see but she knew that Amara was welcome to stay and join them.

The energy was very strong actually, and she felt that Amara would provide great insight into the troubles ahead, help with building out the pack and even help increase the pack size. She would be a good friend and counsel to the pack.

“Well, I would be honored to have you stay. Your wisdom and magic would be very beneficial to our pack. As you can see, we are not your usual group but the purpose of the pack is to be welcoming to everyone. Not everyone needs to be a wolf to be here,” Tessa said with compassion.

Jackson nodded along in agreement even though he still seemed slightly reluctant. He trusted Tessa wholeheartedly and he knew she knew what she was doing.

“Well, I am so appreciative of the offer to stay. Thank you! Just let me know what I need to do to be of service,” Amara said to them.

Amara was able to help expedite the building of the houses with her magical abilities. She helped nurture and tend the garden and even added a herb section so that she could make potions and elixirs that would be helpful to Jackson and Tessa. Due to her witch abilities, she was even more beneficial to help train Tessa with her wolf spirit. She could pick up on Tessa’s aura and could read the energy of the wolf spirit. She was able to guide her on when best to use offensive moves versus defensive moves.

All of this was very exciting for her as well. She had never met a wolf summoner before but had heard of them growing up in her coven. When the former coven leader passed away, a witch not liked by many took the elder position by force and was into practicing dark magic, Amara was very against this and decided to leave before anything got out of control or dangerous for her.

She found a new home, amongst the most unexpected people, but she felt safe here and welcomed. She looked forward to continuing to help Tessa and Jackson grow the pack as well as contribute to her magical abilities. Things were looking up for them all.
