Kai bent down to pick up the scattered dresses that littered the floor. One by one, he folded them and stuffed them into the laundry bag. Some were inside-out, some still had the faint scent of Jamie’s perfume, and a few were stained with spilled wine from last night. He didn’t bother checking for what was salvageable—he just wanted the mess gone. After he dropped the bag by the door, he turned to the bedside table and picked up the disposable cups and empty wine bottles. He wondered, not for the first time, why he was the one doing all this.
