After everything Aaron had just heard from his father, his mood was dark and heavy. He leaned back against the leather seat in the back of the car, closing his eyes briefly as the driver maneuvered through the city traffic. “I just want to get home, shut everything out, and have some damn peace,” he thought bitterly. Tomorrow was the auction event—one of the biggest of the year—and he had a lot riding on it. He’d reminded Raina earlier to pick out a nice dress for the evening. Last time, it had been their personal tailor who dressed her, and to his surprise, she had looked absolutely stunning. The moment they walked into the room together, he noticed the stares.
