When the light came up as the credits rolled, she pulled herself out of her chair with slow, deliberate motions, and stepped out into the late afternoon sun. She had every intention of getting back into her car and driving home, but through a quirk of memory, she had completely forgotten on which street she had parked. Panic rose within her immediately, but she quelled it and sat on a bench to think through the situation. She retraced the drive into town, remembered the trouble she had finding a parking spot, and how she had driven around and around, looking for an empty space. She became conscious of her face as she sat, and it seemed to her that it was not a part of her body.
