CHAPTER 9Sticking to his plan, Carl drove with JP through Tomah on their way to Madison on Wednesday. There, Carl rented the equipment he needed and drove back to a motel outside of Tomah. The confluence of 1-90 and I-94 a couple miles east of Tomah made it a busy place, a place where it was unlikely anyone would remember Carl or JP, at least if JP behaved herself and didn’t throw a public fit about something.
