I sat in my leather chair at the center of my Packhouse office, fists gripping the armrests so tightly my knuckles turned bone white. My wolf paced inside me, furious and restless, clawing at my insides. The whole room felt like it was suffocating me—too heavy, too quiet. The realisation of what had happened—what I’d almost done—pressed against my chest like a curse I couldn’t shake. Sareena stood near the fireplace, arms crossed, her face unreadable as always. Lucas leaned against the desk, jaw clenched, eyes waiting for me to acknowledge the obvious truth. They were both right. I knew it. My recklessness had nearly cost Hayden everything.
