Silas’s POV, Hayden spent the morning resting, her skin gradually regaining color, the tension finally easing from her body. I watched her from the doorway for a while before stepping inside with the tray of food. Her scent——was stronger today, and it made something deep in my chest settle, like my wolf knew she was healing. I set the tray down on the table beside the bed and pulled up a chair, careful not to wake her too abruptly. She stirred almost immediately, those sharp eyes blinking open. “Is that food?” she asked, voice still raspy, but her tone light. I smiled. “Yeah. Thought you might be hungry. How are you feeling now?” She sat up slowly, sniffing the air like she was trying to decide if she was in heaven or hell. “How am I feeling?” she repeated. “Like I had organ failure.
