Chapter Eight

1034 Words
The morning of February tenth, I felt like going to the Mall. I want to get gifts for my family and my crew, plus my manager, Willow, for Valentine's day. But, I should get dressed first. So, I grabbed a silky emerald green jumpsuit that hugs my curves and has diamonds decorating the waist like a belt. Then, slipped on a pair of black high heel booties. After braiding my hair into a bun and curling a couple strands of hair around my face, I put a little makeup on and sprayed myself with some of my favorite perfume. Then, I grabbed my Jeep keys and, after getting into my Jeep, I drove to the Mall. I parked in the middle section of the parking lot, so I'm close to just about every store at the Mall. The first store I stopped at was a Jewelry Store, to find a charm bracelet and charms for Isabella. Then, I walk past a beautiful necklace that says 'Joy', so I buy that, for my mom, too. I, then, go to the Gift Shop and buy cologne, for Nate, Andrew, Davis, James, Austin and Rick, perfume and makeup, for Daphenie, Savannah, Asia and Summer, a dress, for my mom and Isabella, and a suit, for my dad and Anthony. Next stop is the Goodies Shop. I buy Dove chocolates, for Daphenie, various flavors of Oreos, for Davis, a package of lemon cookies, for Asia, Lindt chocolates, for Summer, Cadbury eggs, for James, Oatmeal Cream Pies, for Andrew, Honey Buns, for Austin, Andes Mints, for Nate, everything Reese's, for Savannah, soft Ginger cookies, for Rick, a few heart packages of Valentine's day chocolates, for Willow, Isabella, my mom and me and all Hershey bar flavors, for Anthony and my dad. Suddenly I had the urge to get assorted chocolate things for me. After purchasing all that, I go to the Toy Store. There I bought a giant Valentine's day Kitten that has the year of Isabella's birthday on the left foot. I also bought a Teddy Bear for Anthony that has the year of his birthday on the left foot. With my hands and arms so full I walk out of the Toy Store and start, blindly, walking towards the Mall's exit. Then, I either run into someone or something. When I look I'm shocked at the looks of this Detective I've just run into. He smiles at me and my knees go weak. After a moment, I finally find my voice. "I'm so sorry. Are you okay?" "Yeah. I'm fine. But, you look like you need some help carrying all that. Can I be of any help?" "Sure. Can you carry a couple of these bags and this giant kitten for me? I can't see while holding this kitten and the teddy bear." "Of course. So, ma'am, what's your name?" "Grace. Grace Starlin. And your's?" "Nathan Brooks. Everyone calls me Detective Brooks, though. But you can call me Nathan. So, you're the Grace Starlin? The famous Grace Starlin with the most beautiful voice of her generation?" "Yeah. That's me. I didn't know people thought that I had the most beautiful voice of my generation, though." "Well. Not everyone thinks that. I said that, because that's what I think. I love listening to your music and listening to your voice as you sing each of your songs with such a great and silky smooth tone to it. You're incredibly talented. I never thought I would have the chance to meet you in person, though. So, this is amazing and I would love to see you around again soon. If you can be around here again soon?" "Well, okay, Nathan. I'll try. But, this is me." I said pointing to my Jeep. I unlocked my Jeep and opened the back doors. "You can stick the bags back here. The giant Valentine's day Kitten and this giant Valentine's day Teddy Bear will go in the back seat, laying down." "Alright. So, Grace, I hope I'll see you around again soon. Can you be back around here again soon?" "I can try. Or you could come over to my place tonight. I'll cook you my famous mini hamburgers and sweet potato fries. If you'd like that." "I'd love that. What's your address and when should I be there?" "I live at 7114 East Mill Drive. You can be there any time around 5 o'clock. Dress however you'd like to this doesn't have to be a date. If you don't want it to be." "I'd like it to be a date. So, I'll dress my best and see you around 5 o'clock." "I'll do the same. Thank you for the help. And I'll see you around then. I'm glad I ran into you. Not literally, though." "So am I. And you're welcome. I'd help you again and again if you needed it." "That's good to hear. Bye, now, Nathan." "Bye, Grace." I drove off and began smiling. I even giggled like a little girl, thinking I'm actually going on a date with a very handsome detective. Who'd know that this would ever happen to me. When I got home, I put everything in my guest bedroom and noticed it was 3:47 pm. I began making my mini hamburgers and sweet potato fries. At 4:32 pm everything was done, so I set the table, put a bottle of sparkling white grape juice in a bucket of ice on the table and went to get dressed for my date with Nathan Brooks. I put on a silky two piece sapphire blue dress. The top was tight fitted, had diamonds decorating the neckline and stopped just above my belly button. The skirt hugged my waist and upper thighs, had diamonds decorating the waistline and flowed out all the way down to my ankles. I applied mascara, silver eyeshadow and glittery pink lipstick. I took my hair out of its bun. Slipped some diamond jewelry on. Then, I stepped into my glittery sapphire heels. With thick heels, so I don't break my ankles. I put a couple diamond barrettes in my hair and then my doorbell rang. I smiled at my reflection and answered my door.
