Aiden's POV
Aiden Blackwood stood at the floor-to-ceiling window of his Manhattan penthouse, gazing out at the glittering cityscape. The lights of the skyscrapers twinkle like diamonds against the dark canvas of night. He elegantly sipped his scotch, his mind completely numb to the party behind him. The elite crowd, music, and laughter all blended to the cacophony of superficiality. His mind was in a total mess; he had thrown himself to work, trying to distract himself from the memory of that night, her sweet voice still echoing in his head. He tried going back to his normal life, which contained no warmth, but he couldn't shake off the feeling that he had experienced something special. He downed the remains of his glass in one gulp.
He reached for another shot, but his friends would not let him; he knew throwing himself to work never helped, so he's gonna get wasted for the first time in a century just to have a sound sleep with no haunting dreams of this particular woman.
"C'mon man, chill, I've never seen you like this," Eric said annoyingly.
"Yeah, dude, doesn't get wasted because of a 'WOMAN'; you hate them, remember? Half-drunk Justin chipped in, emphasizing the word 'WOMAN'.
"Am...mm.....lea....ving," I stuttered.
" No, dude, you're wasted, for f**k's sake; stay for the night, will you? ".Justin said after gulping a lemon mix to sober up.
"No!!!". I staggered towards the exit, the gold double door was swung open by the guards seeing me approaching.
I staggered towards the transparent elevator; I entered and pressed the 'B' button, which would take me to the basement. My stupid friends made me do this, forcing me to host a party, saying it would help clear my mind, but no!! instead, I was irritated, irritated by those slutty golddiggers trying to force themselves on me.
'Ding' I was pulled out of my haze by the sound of the elevator indicating that I was in the basement. I made my way to the underground car park.
I got into the car and left the building. After a long drive, I found myself wandering around the city, hoping to catch a glimpse of her. After wandering for only god knows how long, I decided to visit the spot where I met her for the first time.
It was an hour's ride from the city's lively atmosphere though, but I was determined..... determined to see her.
I reached the place, that very place. I parked my car, unbuckled my seatbelt, and got out. I walked to my favorite spot and sat on a rock, the rock was the rock she sat on that day.
The place is always quiet and calm; I take it to be the most peaceful place in the whole of Manhattan, With its great atmosphere, trees, and perfect ocean view. I wonder how she found this place as I've never seen anyone here.
The memories of that night kept flowing.......…......................................................….........…..........................................................................................................
--FLASHBACK--
Aiden walked towards his favorite spot in the city, lost in thought. As he approached, he heard the sweet voice of a woman singing 'A Thousand Years .'The melody is hauntingly beautiful, and the lyrics speak directly to his heart.
He followed the sound and found a woman sitting on the rock, her back to him, her voice filling the night air.
'Beats fast'
'Colors and promises'
'How to be brave? '
' How do I love when I'm afraid to fall? '
'But watching you stand alone '
'All of my doubt suddenly goes away somehow '
'One step closer '
'I have died every day waiting for you '
'Darling, don't be afraid, I have loved you for a thousand years '
' I'll love you for a thousand more '
As he listened, he felt an inexplicable connection to her, as if their hearts were beating in sync. The song becomes a serenade, a declaration of love and longing that echoes through the night.
Aiden decided to continue listening from a distance, not wanting to break the spell of the moment.
.He's captivated by her voice and the emotions it evokes; he stands there, hiding by the trees, and lets the music wash over him.
As the song came to an end, she rose from the rock, her silhouette outlined by the moonlight. Aiden held his breath, not wanting to reveal himself.
She looked around as if sensing someone's presence but couldn't see anyone.
She smiled to herself, tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear, and walked away. Her dressing looked shabby; Aiden concluded that she was nothing like the elites; judging from her gait, she walked as if she was preparing to meet her ancestors; her black top had faded to grey while her pants looked like they would rip from the impact of little force......................
He snapped out of my haze when I noticed she was no longer there.
Aiden felt like he was punched in the gut. He couldn't believe he didn't approach her, he didn't get a chance to talk to her.
"f**k, f**k, f**k !!!!". He cursed in frustration.
"We'll meet someday" He promised.
For the first time in eighteen years, he felt a sense of relief from his hellish life.
He felt complete...... He knew pretty well he doesn't get involved with women, not even the elites.
"Urrgh I feel restless already".
Aiden stood alone, the sound of her voice still echoing in his mind, and the city light twinkling like stars around him. ...........................................................................................................................................................................................
_PRESENT_
Aiden was pulled out of his world by the sound of his phone, Ring, Ring.............. He ignored the call, but the damn person wouldn't stop calling.
'Don't people ever respect the phrase 'personal space'? He unconsciously voiced out, pulling a poker face. His frown deepened when the phone wouldn't stop ringing.
He already knew who the annoying caller was; he would have to turn the earth upside down because they wouldn't let him breathe unless he picked up.
His friends
Resigning to fate, he picked up
"what!!" I snapped sounding annoyed
"Whoah man, I didn't steal your woman, believe me." Came Eric's annoying voice.
"Yeah, man, you can keep tabs on us for the next dozen centuries," Justin added.
"How much have you two drunk?" I asked annoyed.
"Ummm......mmm let me think, eleven pepper,...... chili sauce,...um... lemon cake, grilled onions and
"f*****g zip that ugly hole you call a mouth," I cut Justin off, I have no idea how much they've drunk, but I know it's nothing less than eleven bottles; I know my guys.
"Honey, say something," Came Eric's voice.
'Honey wtf! ' these two surely know how to annoy me.
"Come on baby, say something." Justin's desperate voice was a coquette.
'This is exactly what happens when god decides to befriend you with idiots'
"No!!!!, you'll stay there for the night and enjoy your hungover" I retorted
"BAD HOST !!!!! " Eric screamed over the phone; I distanced the phone from my ear in case he was trying to block my ear drum as a payback for ditching them.
I hung up before they pushed my patience further.
I walked back to the car, I entered, but I couldn't drive away; I checked my wristwatch, and I gasped at what I saw , I've been there for about two hours. It was midnight when I Left the penthouse, and it's 3am now. I decided to get wasted before calling my personal driver.
I gave my employees a day off, even though my bodyguards are secretly following me which am acutely aware of unbeknownst to them.
I drove a black sports car today, because I wanted to be alone, I dropped the empty bottle, ready to dial my driver.
I heard squeaky sounds at the back of my car. I got out and followed the sound. It led me to my car boot, I opened the boot, only to find the must shocking thing ever.
A woman curled up and shivering wtf! .Incase you don't know , am a clean prick.
