Fury Unleashed

The next morning came, and August sat on her bed, staring out the window. She hadn't slept a wink last night, consumed by thoughts of how to defeat Becky. Yet, she didn't just want to defeat her; she wanted to punish her. August considered gathering evidence of Becky's involvement and putting her behind bars, but deemed it too easy a punishment. Instead, she decided to strip Becky of everything she held dear: her career, money, and Mateo. "I'm sorry, Mateo," she muttered to herself, "but you're guilty of being a fool and letting your girlfriend walk away with the murder of my child. I can forgive you for cheating on me, but I can never forgive anyone who took part in harming my child. That's why I have to destroy you all before he is born." Standing up, August paced the room, her mind racing with plans. "I have to find out all the people who were involved in harming my child. Becky is not that influential; she cannot pull this off alone. I have to figure out who is behind her. But before that, I have to let Mateo know I'm pregnant with his child. That way, I can protect Alex from unforeseen trouble." She said to herself. As Jamal stepped into the room, August greeted him with a warm smile. "Good morning, Mateo," she said, her tone friendly. "Morning, August. How was your night?" he replied, returning the smile. Well, it wasn't good," August admitted, her tone serious. She gestured for Jamal to sit beside her, and after a moment of hesitation, he complied. "I need your help, Jamal," August began. "I'm sorry, Miss, but I'm not helping you look into Mateo anymore," Jamal replied, standing up abruptly. "Jamal, he is the father of my baby," August blurted out, seeing the pain in his eyes before he masked it. "Someone tricked me into getting pregnant. I want to punish that person. Will you help me?" "Yes, Miss, I will," Jamal said, sitting back down. "What do you mean you were tricked into getting pregnant, did he coerce you into getting pregnant? Is that why you asked me to look into him, ?" he asked anxiously. "No, it's Becky," August replied. "Your friend, Becky?" he asked. Just then, August's phone rang. She glanced at the screen and saw that it was Becky calling. "Yes, my friend Becky," she said, showing Jamal the screen to reveal Becky's caller ID. ~ August pov "Hi, Becky," I greeted her over the phone. "Hey, August, how are you doing now?" Becky inquired. "I'm better. I'm getting ready to go home," I replied. "That's great! Well, I have good news for you," Becky said excitedly. "What is it?" I asked. "Mateo is coming to the same hospital you are in right now. Go to the lounge immediately," Becky replied. "Oh, really?" I replied, trying to sound excited. "I'll head there right now." "You really owe me a big deal for this info," Becky said from the other end of the line, almost making me sneer. If I hadn't experienced what happened the last time, I might have believed Becky again. The last time, she had said the same thing, but I didn't even meet Mateo in the lounge. Instead, I received a heavy slap from his sister, who was in the lounge's restroom and overheard everything Becky and I said about how I planned to blackmail him into marrying me with the pregnancy. "I do appreciate everything you do for me, Becky, and I promise I will repay you tenfold for everything you've done, okay?" I said as I signaled Jamal with my hands and told him that I would be back. "Okay. I'll stay on the line with you," Becky said from the other side. I nodded, even though she couldn't see me, and ended the call before entering the room. Sitting down on the couch, I took out my phone and called my mom, putting it on the loudspeaker. It went straight to voicemail, and as I heard her voice, all the emotions I had bottled up came crashing down. "Mom, I miss you. I miss you so much," I said, my voice trembling with emotion. "I call you every day. Why can't you take pity on me and pick up the phone?" I continued, sniffling. "I need you now more than ever, Mom," I cried. "I'm pregnant, Mom. Everything is over - my career, college, everything is over for me, and it's all my fault. If I had not gone to the club that day, he wouldn't have drugged and taken advantage of me. Should I have an abortion? Or should I go to the media and let everyone know what he did to me? I can't even go to the media because I don't want my child being affected. Besides, nobody would believe me if I told them that the Sterling Group heir r***d me," I said, my words pouring out in a rush. Just then, the restroom's door was pushed open, and Karina, Mateo's sister, came out. "What did you just say?" she asked, her expression serious. "Were you eavesdropping on me?" I snapped back, feeling defensive. "Who did you say took advantage of you?" she asked, holding my hands tightly. "You can tell everyone what you heard. My career has ended anyway, so I don't care," I said, trying to free my hands, but she held them tighter. "My brother would never do such a thing," she said, nodding her head as if she was trying to convince herself. "Mateo is your brother?" I asked, feigning surprise. "Well then, go ask your brother what he did to me two months ago at the Sterling Club, and tell him that I will make him pay," I said as I managed to drag my hands away and left the room. Just as I opened the door, I saw Jamal. "How long have you been here?" I asked. "I arrived just now," he replied. "Okay, let's go," I said to him. As we headed back, I kept wondering, am I doing the right thing? But then again, Karina also harmed my son by faking his DNA. I am either going to use or punish the people behind the death of my son, I thought to myself.
