I looked at Cassie in shock. My heart was beating faster in my chest now.
The feeling of guilt gripped me hard. Apart from feeling guilty, I was also scared.
What would Cassie do if she found out the truth? What would she do if she knew I wiped out her memories and lied to her?
She couldn’t find out now, not when we were just building a connection with her. Maybe not at all.
Hell, I’d prefer it if she never knew. Having her here with us felt like a dream come true. I wished it could be like this forever.
But deep down, I knew better. The memories were surfacing. This was the start of it. It was only a matter of time. I knew this would happen eventually.
