I swallowed hard when Amara said those words. My heart started beating faster. Having the brothers around me felt ….right. I loved how they surrounded me with their warmth.
For the first time, I felt safe. I felt…..loved.
Goddess, why did I say that? What was wrong with me?
Across the room, Celeste was staring, and this time, she wasn’t hiding it.
The jealousy in her eyes was clear. The expression on her face was ugly.
The movie began to play on the screen. It was something from Netflix that no one was really paying attention to. Dialogue filled the room, but our own quiet world seemed louder somehow.
