Winter slowly backed away from the edge of the pit. When she thought she was far enough away she stood up and walked over to her sled. Grabbing the ropes she quickly tied them to a sturdy old tree, "Sorry Grandfather, but please help me by holding this rope." After she secured the rope, she ran around the pit grabbing broken branches and underbrush. Throwing everything into the pit, so she would have something to help her stop from sinking. She returned to her sled and grabbed her ice picks before tying the rope to herself and inching back to the edge of the pit. She swung her legs over the edge first. She tugged on the rope a couple times to make sure it was secured one last time, and then slowly started to go over the edge digging in her ice picks to stop her from falling. It took a
