The Ex- Chapter 11
In which she gets asked out for "business"
POV-AMARA
~ONE MONTH LATER~
My leg has healed phenomenally. A jagged scar runs from the side of my knee to a little below the middle of my calf. It wasn"t beautiful, or something I"d wish on anyone. As for the job I had been offered from Lucian. I declined politely. I will find a job somewhere else. Just anywhere, but near him.
It was an incredibly generous offer however, I don"t see how it wont be awkward. I still felt the butterflies in my stomach from being near him and the will to swoon from the sight of him. He was good eye candy, for sure.
The hospital had discharged me, a week ago due to my slow healing process and in case I had ruptured any tendons. They said it was incredible how the scar wasn"t prominent. To say the least, I was glad. I don"t want the judging stares and disgusted looks from the onlookers.
Liana had been staying at my grandmothers for the time being. I really did miss her, and a lot. I turned my laptop and dragged my fingers on the mousepad, clicking the icon saying "Skype". Choosing who I"d like to contact. The face of my grandmother popped onto the screen after her finally, answering the call.
She wore a beautiful smile. Her face wrinkled a little from her actions. She was beautiful for a woman her age. Her gray hair and blue eyes protruded the most out of her features. "How are you feeling, sweetheart?" Her worry was eminent and I appreciated it. It made me feel as though someone cared about me.
"Fine, I have gotten this really good therapist. He helps me with the irritation and things like that. So, um where is Liana. I would like to see her." I smiled, getting impatient that I wasn"t seeing my baby girl.
The screen became a little blurry and Liana showed up instead. "Mommy." I wanted to tear up right then and there. I mean that girl was the only thing that keeps my world spinning. "Hey, baby mommy is going to go pick you up really soon, I promise." I was getting excited because I was going to bring her home.
My grandmother took the phone from her hands and looked at me with a saddened expression. "You"re taking her back? So soon? I am going to miss her so much and her company." My grandfather had died of cancer a few years back and it hit my grandma the hardest. We all miss him.
"Yeah I think it"s time I see my baby girl agai-" I was interrupted by the dinging of my doorbell. I waved goodbye to her and mouthed a "goodbye." Sprinting to the door not even looking through the peephole.
What do I find? Frosty, flipping Lucian. You know what I should really use that peephole. I was about to close the door when he stuck his foot between the frame and the door, jamming it. "Not so fast. I really want you to reconsider coming to work for me. You got the brains and it should not be a personal thing." He looked so hot. Like I said I had to avoid swooning and drooling.
I don"t know how long I have been staring at him. I couldn"t take my eyes of him. He cleared his throat and gave me his knowing smirk. "Were you checking me out? I think I see a little drool on the tip of your mouth. I knew I was good looking but damn." So cocky, I unconsciously brought the back of my hand to the tip of my mouth to wipe drool. But non was found. I actually fell for it. Blood rushed to my cheeks in a blush.
I looked down not wanting him to see it. "Are you going to let me in or are we going to talk in the doorframe?" I was about to let him in but I had remembered that Liana"s toys and things were in my living room and I couldn"t let him see it. He would certainly take her from me.
"The doorframe is so nice. Like honestly I would live in it." He quirked his perfect eyebrow in question. "Well since you don"t want to let me in which is fine let me invite you for coffee, you know to talk about business." I frowned.
"I haven"t even accepted your job offer yet." I was not sure if I would take it anyways.
"You don"t have to, your eyes speak for it themselves you want the job." I will pick you up at around 8 PM." I was taken about a little. "Coffee at eight really?" That didn"t really seem appropriate or healthy in any way, shape or form."Oh s**t, you are so right. How about a nice dinner?" My mouth was ajar. Opening and closing my mouth but not able to say anything.
"I will take it as a yes. Remember just business not monkey business." With that he left. I still stood in the doorframe, gasping. What had just happened? I smiled at myself and hugged myself. Deciding to grab my keys and go shopping for a few things.
Making a list of objects such as fruits, baby food, and diapers. Hopping in my vehicle. I drived towards the mart. Walking out and into the store.
I picked out the things, I had made a list about. While I was at it I picked out a pack of gum. Going to the cashier a hand on my shoulder caught my attention. A familiar face one I had seen a lot lately. My therapist. "Hey, funny running into you here." I giggled at that.
"You know this is where people buy food and stuff like, you know how much I need my food." He smiled at that. He was the classic boy next door. He had dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. He was very good looking. His jeans and tight white shirt that showed off his muscles. And Let"s just say he has a big crush on me. "Well it was nice running into you. How have you been feeling." There is that warm feeling again. "Good. Yeah same here. Well seeing you not running into me. That"s just silly." I started to babble off.
"Easy, dont want your jaw to detach itself." He chuckled I just blushed instead. "Um... I will see you around." He just nodded at my comment and waved goodbye before walking away.
When I was done paying for the things I walked over to my car but something caught my attention. It was a gorgeous dress inside a glass display, calling out to me.
I needed to have it.
