Hope watched as the two of them joked around, feeling a twinge of envy. In both her past and current life, she'd never had a particularly close friend.
Iris looked at Hope again, her suspicion growing. She wondered if Hope's medical qualifications were simply a result of some kind of transaction or privilege.
Whether it was true or not—there was only one way to find out!
"Ms. Newton, a side from your ability to help with pregnancies, I assume you can treat other illnesses too?"
Hope smiled at her confidently. "Of course."
As soon as Hope laid eyes on Iris, she guessed that Mrs. Knapp's mention of treating a friend was actually Iris testing her medical skills.
"Well, why don't you check me?" Iris extended her hand. "You're going to take my pulse, right?"
"Mm-hmm." Hope gently placed
