CHAPTER EIGHTEEN I DIDN’T KNOW what drama I had been party to the night before, but Julian’s mood had become instantly cold and closed off when that Alana woman approached our table. He was silent on the drive back to the hotel, stiffly offering a “goodnight” before shutting himself in his room. Confused and a little angry, I took a shower and packed my bags before falling into a restless sleep. The morning wasn’t looking any better. Julian ordered breakfast for us before I emerged from my room, and I found eggs Benedict with a side of bacon waiting for me while his used plates sat off to the side.
