[S1] E13: The Tale of the Two Sisters

2489 Words
LALISA Jungkook and I left Tzuyu in the bunker for her to think things through. He left his phone with her so that she can call us when she's ready to come back. "Why didn't you tell her about the jacket, Lis?" He asked. "We need to make sure, Kook," I said as we walked—me more like limped, towards my house. "Can you call the Jen and Jisoo over? I need more heads to figure this out. I'll call Yoongi over too." "Sure," he said as we stepped inside the living room. Dad was surprised to see me with middy clothes and a swollen ankle. "What the hell just happened?!" He blurted out—cup of coffee on his hand almost got thrown. "Jesus! I leave for a week and you get a boyfriend then go home like this?!" "I'm fine dad," I said as Jungkook helped me sit on the couch. "We're close. We'll prove uncle Daesung's innocent." "You're doing what?!" Dad looked genuinely furious. "Kwon Lalisa. You shouldn't put your nose into serpent business—" "Serpent Business?" I immediately asked. "What does the serpents have to do with this?" He clammed up. Realizing he unknowingly spilt something that shouldn't be. He took the ice pack and handed it over to Jungkook. "If you want my blessing to date my daughter, don't ever let her out of your sight," he said coldly—not even sparing me a glance. "Do not leave this house 'til I get back." My brows furrowed as dad grabbed his leather serpent jacket and left the house. My father's acting strange. "He's just worried," Jungkook assured me. "I can see you're suspecting something. He's your father and seeing you like this worries him." "No, Kook," I said—still looking at the door. "I once fell off a tree and he didn't react much. I'm a Kwon. And trouble is part of my whole existence. But why now—of all time, is he acting all paranoid?" Jungkook sighed and took the jacket out of the backpack we hid underneath the couch. "Whatever it is, we need to figure out what Jackson meant when he said this jacket has the evidence we need," he said making me sigh and agree. A few minutes passed when Jennie and Jisoo. Yoongi and Hoseok followed. Jungkook explained everything we found out to them—shocking Jennie at most. She's on the verge of crying. "Where is she? I need to see her—" "She'll call when she's ready, Jen," I said. "But to be honest, I can't feel it. I don't think she's really Tzuyu." "So that's why you didn't tell her about the jacket." I nodded at Jungkook. "Come to think of it, why would she need to have Jackson's evidence? With her DNA, she can prove she's actually Tzuyu and tell the officials the truth. Her being alive is evidence that it wasn't her who died." "Exactly." "Then why'd you let her go? We could turn her in to the police—" "But it wouldn't prove anything, Jungkook," Yoongi interjected. "She'd be released because we have no proof she killed Tzuyu or even involved in the case. Namjoon can't testify since he didn't see her face." Jisoo's brows suddenly furrowed and he stood up to walk closer to me. "Do you guys frequently use jackets?" He asked taking it from me. "I don't know about you guys but I always wear Jin's who looked exactly like this." She motioned Jungkook to stand and wear it. "But one of the pocket has a hole in it and my chapstick would always go through and get stuck in the lining," she said while pinching the lining around. Her eyes grew wide and took something out of the pocket. "Hello there." It was a small flashdrive. All eyes grew wide. "Well done Nancy Drew." Jisoo smiled and turned towards me. "Do you happen to have a laptop?" I couldn't breathe. The sight of death sent chills down our spine. Jennie's eyes were filled with tears as a single tear dropped on my cheek. This is evidence. Evidence enough to show that Uncle Daesung is innocent. Evidence that will prove to everyone who actually died that faithful night. And evidence that will let us all finally sleep soundly at night. Yoongi immediately called his dad after seeing the video as Jisoo and Hoseok took the flashdrive with them to the station. Jungkook tended to Jennie who was still shaken while Jimin tried to stop me from what I was about to do. "Lisa. She's dangerous. You can't leave just now—" "She doesn't know, Jimin. I need to hear it straight from her. I need this." He couldn't argue back 'coz I didn't give him the chance to. Ignoring the pain of my ankle, I rode my father's motorbike. "Running away so fast?" The girl in the black coat stopped packing her things as soon as she heard my voice. Slowly, she turned to face me. She smirked. "So you finally figured it out," she said. "Took you long enough." "You had me fooled for a minute but, I knew there was something shady about you," I scoffed. "Why'd you do it? And to your own sister? She's you f*****g flesh and blood! Why?!" "Because I deserved everything she had!" Daewi blurted out. "I was supposed to be the one they adopted! They saw me first! But they mistakenly picked her. Because we looked so alike they took Daehee and changed her name to Chou Tzuyu. I, who was supposed to be adopted got left in that hellhole alone. Abandoned. Forgotten. "But then one day she came. She found out about her estranged twin sister Jeon Daewi. Whom she forgotten. But I never forget. "I managed to convince her to exchange places from time to time. You didn't even notice. But yeah, it wasn't your fault. You didn't know she had an identical twin. And Tzuyu's really easy to copy. It went on for months until she met that Jennie Kim. "She stopped visiting me and abandoned me again. A week turned into a month. 'Til I was yet again forgotten. So I did what I had to do. "When she finally came to visit me again for the last time, she told me her plan. Of running away with that girl. I supported her and encouraged her to do it. Little did she know that she's a step away from her grave. Custom made just for her." The despicable look in Daewi's face mimicked the same look she had when she strangled her own sister to death. While being tied helplessly on an a wooden chair. Everything was caught on camera. A CCTV footage found in a jacket was a clear enough evidence that Kang Daesung wasn't the murderer but Jeon Daewi, Tzuyu's long lost twin. And she plotted the murder just so she could take over Tzuyu's life. "She took my life before. Now I'm taking hers," she said chuckling. "And what proof do you even have? If I managed to convince you I was Tzuyu, I can easily do it with the others. I already have enough proof to support my claim." "Dental records. Fingerprint. You can't fool the Chou's—" "All taken care of," she said grinning widely. "Why'd you think I hid this long? I planned this well and no one can stop me. With Jackson dead, the final piece before I reveal to everyone that Chou Tzuyu's alive is all taken care of." Then she grabbed something inside her bag. A knife. "There are many ways to cover up a death," she said as she took a step closer towards me. "We do it al the time in the crackhouse when a patient suddenly dies but don't want the donations to stop. Perks of working for the devil." Right when she was about to stab me, I caught her arm and tried to push her away. But she was strong. Way more than she expected. And with a broken ankle, she was overpowered. But a Kwon doesn't accept defeat. With all her remaining strength, she pushed Daewi off and ran. The psycho followed her outside with the knife still on her hand. I don't know how I managed to endure the pain pf my ankle but I did. But of course, I wasn't as fast as I used to be. As Daewi got closer, there's only one thing I can do to defend myself. I turn around and charged towards her. I aim my focus on her right hand where she held the knife tightly. Lose the weapon or lose my life. I pick the latter. I grabbed her arm and tried to take the weapon from her. But it was no use. So I pushed her to the ground instead making her drop the knife. I pin her down the semi-paved road and kick the knife away with my good foot. But she was strong. She managed to switch our position and scratch my face with her nails. I grabbed her shoulders and we rolled again reversing our position. I smashed my knuckles onto her cheek leaving a faint bruise and a busted lip. "Just give up, Daewi. You'll never get away with your crimes. You killed your sister and you have to pay for your crime—" She laughed like a maniac before forcibly pushing me off her. Now it was her turn. She elbowed my face which hurt like a b***h that made me lie on the cold ground. "Not after I kill you first!" Her hands landed on my neck, choking the life out of me. The same way she killed Tzuyu. I couldn't breathe and I felt dizzy as I tried to get her off of me. But she was too strong. "After I make sure you're dead, I'll throw you off the bridge too just like what I did to Tzuyu. So they'll all think you killed yourself too. Just like her—" On the verge of passing out, Daewi's grip loosened as a loud gunshot echoed through the air. I felt a pair of strong arms around me—helping me get up as I catch my breath. Everything around me was in slow-mo. I couldn't comprehend whatever it was that Jungkook was saying. I blinked. Was he crying? Uncle Seunghyun—Sheriff Choi, ran towards Daewi as he placed his gun back into his hollister. Her shoulder bloody as she cried out in pain. Yoongi and Taehyung ran towards us as well—both screaming my name. "Kook...I..." Even I couldn't hear myself. Then I succumbed to the darkness. I opened my eyes as was greeted by the harsh rays of the sun. I glance to my side and realize, today's the last day of summer and tomorrow, we go back to our usual lives. I stood up, walk down the stairs and walk straight towards the kitchen only to be greeted by the sweet aroma of Dad's finest pancakes. "Good morning, princess," he said as he passed me—with a plate on hand, and kissed my forehead. "You're up early. I'm not done making breakfast yet." "School starts tomorrow," I answered and sat on the bar stool by the counter. "I have to make myself get used to waking up early." "Riiiight," he said mot sounding convinced. "By the way, Taehyung called. He said something about picking you up and hanging out at Yang's?" "The gang wanted to meet up for the last time before summer's over," I said digging in to the plate full of pancakes. "When school starts it'll be back to good 'ol North vs South again." Dad heaved a sigh before propping his arms over the counter. "Princess, don't let the old ideals of this town get to you kids," he said. "Not that the things that happened over the summer was good but it got you kids together. And you all look like you enjoy each other's company." Yeah, we did. We enjoyed the rest of the summer together watching Jen, Chae and Hobi practice, drink milkshakes at Yang's and sometimes throw an exclusive party for just us ten. Ten because Namjoon was in juvenile prison—just for the rest of the summer for his involvement with drugs. Due to his clean blood samples, his sentence was lowered to two months. After all the chaos and post-traumatic stress, we managed to pull through. I might've lost Tzuyu but I gained friends I'd never have given a different circumstance. "We'll see." Just then, a car honked outside. "I guess that would be Jimin?" Dad said. I shrugged as I take one pancake to-go. "Ya! Are you not even gonna change your clothes?" "There's no much difference, dad," I said taking my jacket from the coat hanger. "Oversized shirt and sweats is how I roll." As I got out of the house, two cars were there. Jimin's and Jin's. Jimin rode with Tae, Yoongi and Hoseok. Jin had Chaeyoung, Jisoo, Jennie and Jungkook. They had their usual smiles plastered across their faces which makes me happy. But the chaotic mess we all got tangled into still haunts me. Us.  Jeon Daewi was sentenced to life imprisonment. But before she gets taken to the state prison, she'll be residing at juvenile prison 'til she reaches the age of 18. It was clear that Tzuyu's death was made to look like suicide. That's why she chose to strangle her instead of stabbing or firing a gun at her. She was also the one who called Jennie's parents to warn them about her running away. So now, everything's clear. Now, they can finally sleep peacefully. I hope. "Get in Loser we're going shopping," Jennie said quoting Mean Girls as I walked towards them. As I was about to clap back a witty remark, a gunshot echoed. Two men on a motorcycle rode pass us. My eyes locked with the armed man. It was then I realized, his gun was pointed at me. I immediately looked down only to see blood stained on my white printed shirt. I raised my head once more to the sight of my Jungkook running towards me. The others following him. I didn't feel anything. Even when the bullet hit my chest. Even when my body fell on to the paved ground. I only started to feel my heart clench as I saw someone very familiar running towards me as well. Someone who I haven't seen for years. "M...om..." Am I dead? END OF SEASON 1 Yey!
