Maxine Martin's POV
"Taxi!" I immediately waved down a cab that I saw approaching.
I almost got run over because it was moving fast, and I suddenly stepped into the road. Thankfully, the taxi stopped right away.
I quickly approached the driver's window. I looked in and saw that there were no passengers.
"Sir, it's an emergency! Can you follow that car? My brother is in it!" I pointed to the car that was driving away.
The driver paused for a moment, and instead of getting angry at my sudden obstruction in the middle of the road, he seemed taken aback by me.
"Okay, fine. You should be thankful you're pretty; otherwise, I wouldn't let you in because you might get me into trouble! I thought you were going to throw yourself in front of my taxi!"
