It was noon when I wake up and I was excited because today I get to find my birthday outfit which is only three days away and I get to look for a dress for the Star Ball which is in ten days. The Star ball is when each of the head families go to Star Island, which is guarded by the mermaids, and mingle. It happens once every two years and this is where my parents want to announce my engagement to Hunter. I got up and showered then I went to my closet and put on a black plunging neckline cut out PU leather crocodile backless club dress by Milano, black red bottom heels from jimmy choo and my heart-shaped ruby with platinum angel wings and 12.5 ct. t.w. diamond ring that my mother gave me for my birthday last year it was a protection charm that she got from a witch and it also has a tracking spell to keep me safe so I wear it all the time. I put my hair in mermaid wave curls then went downstairs to greet my family.

When I got to the dining room my parents were already sitting in their chairs I walked in and sat in my spot and said, “good morning.”

My dad said, “good morning honey I have something for you.”

“I knew you would.”

“Ptolema’s gift.”

“No, you’re just that predictable. Can I talk to you guys about something?”

Mom said, “Sure but let your dad give you your gift first.”

“Ok.”

 Dad looked at Aglward and said, “you can bring her in now.”

I looked at Aglward and next to him was a beautiful hellhound. I jumped up out of my seat and ran straight to her and started rubbing her ears.

I smiled at my dad and said, “I love her dad what is her name.”

“whatever you want to name her?”

“I’m going to name her Nyla.”

“that is a beautiful name. what do you want to talk about?”

“well I want to talk about Adianth.”

Dad said, “that dragon boy you hang out with against my advice.”

 “yes him. I love him dad.”

 “what?”

 “I love him, and I want to marry him.”

 “you are betrothed to Hunter.”

 “but I hate Hunter.”

“I am not discussing this with you Aly you will marry Hunter end of discussion. And you will stop hanging out with that dragon.”

“no, I will not.”

I grabbed a bottle of AB positive blood and walked out of the room and out the door. When I got outside my guards were following me. I got into the limo and said, “to the dress shop please.” When we got there, I walked in and went straight to the back where it is a bit dimmer for vampires. I started looking around and I finally landed on a red mermaid style evening gown I went to the dressing room and tried it on, and it fit perfectly. I took it off and handed it to Myrina then I pulled out my phone and called Adianth.

 He picked up after two rings and said, “hey baby I have been waiting for your call.”

 “I love it when you call me baby.”

“did you talk to your parents?”

“yes, but my dad reacted just how we thought that he would he forbid me from seeing you.”

 “so, what do we do next?”

“we have 10 days to change his mind.”

“and how are we going to do that?”

 “I don’t know but we have to try.”

“well while we think about that how about I come pick you up and we go away for two days.”

“that’s not going to make my dad like you. It actually might make him kill you.”

“he could try.”

“never tempt a King.”

“I’m going to take that as a yes I will meet you at your favorite store. And baby get rid of the extra baggage.”

I laughed and hung up the phone.
