ats again just in time for the lawyers to step out of the chambers with the judge. Amanda's dad winked at us, and I felt an immediate sense of relief.
“Due to the defendant not pressing charges against her brother and mother, we will not move forward with charges against them. If the defense wants to file charges at a later date they can. As of now, we are going to resume the trial. Gentleman, time to give your closing statements if there are no other witnesses to call forward.” they got up and closed out their case trying their damndest to hit the jury's heartstrings and logical thinking. The jury left the room to go deliberate and surprisingly they were back within 5 minutes. That was fast!
“Already?” the judge asked and one of the jurors stepped forward.
