“This is my house, I paid for it so I can damn well chose when to leave or not, what the hell is that bastard doing in my house!” Kevin demanded, angrily.
His eyes washed over Ryan in a murderous way, he hated his brother-in-law with passion.
“He has nowhere to stay!”
“I don't care, I'm not going to harbor some damned murderer in my house, get him out of here. It's fair enough that I have you here, a worthless pair from your family will bring nothing but badluck!”
Suzanne shook lightly, she got married to him six years ago and it has been hell for as he had subdued her to a lifetime of misery and maltreated her, claiming to have save what's left of her father's company even after his death.
Ryan saw the tension between them and realized the bastard was the reason his sister was always looking work out and few strands of white hair was growing on her head.
“I'll leave.” Ryan uttered.
“Yes go ahead, there's no place for a ruthless monster who murdered hundreds when he was just eighteen, I tell you, you're a bad omen!”
“Kevin!”
A dry yet prolonged cough interrupted them followed by a wheezing sound, Ryan's eyes traced the source and found a little boy seated on the couch, jerking uncontrollably. Suzanne fled towards him, fear etched on her face.
“Junwei! Junwei can you hear me!” She uttered, worriedly. “Call the hospital or something!”
Kevin sighed in disappointment. No hospital was willing to take him anymore, they had all turned him away and said his case was hopeless.
She slightly shook the boy as tears began streamlining her face. It was her five year old son. Ryan stepped forward and took the boy from her, laying him on the couch, he opened his bag and rolled out his acupuncture needles.
‘Of what use is my skills if my nephew dies in front of me?’ he muttered to himself.
He masked his anxiousness and took a deep breath, it's been long since he practiced medicine. He studied the child's face and saw the same symptoms his men presented before they were ambushed and killed. Some of them had died from the poisoning as well.
“This? How can this disease be here?” He asked rhetorically.
“Get your filthy hands off my son you bastard!” Kevin barked.
“Touch me and watch your son right before your own eyes!” Ryan thundered, Kevin was startled by the sudden outburst, his icy tone made him shudder in fear and he instinctively stepped back.
You ungrateful w***e! What have you done to my son!” Kevin bellowed in anger.
“No hospital is going to take him, let him just do whatever he can.” Suzanne said, convincingly.
Ryan scoffed and began inserting the needles into the acupuncture points in the boys body, he stirred it gently, while Kevin stood aside.
The boy suddenly awoke with a loud gasp and doubled over, throwing up some green slimy stuff that emitted a disgusting stench. “Mom, I feel lightheaded.” The little boy muttered,
“Who…who the hell are you?” The husband muttered with fear evident in his tone. No one has been able to save his son, absolutely no one.
Ryan dug his hands in his bag and brought out a little shrapnel that glistened like gold, in the shape of a fish, he had carved it himself while he was in prison. “Here, it's a gift from me.”
The boy took it and muttered a ‘thank you’. Suzzane hugged her child and tears rolled down her face, she looked at her brother with much admiration.
The boy's eyes widened in shock and excitement as he saw his uncle, he immediately broke off the hug from his mother and threw his hands around Ryan.
“Uncle Ryan! I've seen your pictures, you're my uncle Ryan!” The boy said, excitedly.
Ryan chuckled and ruffled his hair, acknowledging his sister's efforts to keep his memory alive.
“Kevin.” Suzzane called out, wanting him to change his mind.
“Get you and your useless murderer brother out of my house you clowns!” Kevin yelled.
“You can insult me all you want but don't call my brother useless!” Suzzane fired back.
“What will you do uhn?”
“He saved our son, he's been termed hopeless by every other doctor and he did it in less than ten minutes, you ungrateful slob!”
“Sister.” Ryan called Suzzane’s attention to her son who seemed to still be weak.
Ryan packed his stuff and carried his canvas bag. “The poison is out of his body but he still needs more detoxification, I'll be back in three days to finish it, he's fine.”
Suzzane stopped him as he made to leave. “Ryan, where will you go?”
“I have some comrades-in-arm, I'll stay over for a few days and figure out what to do next.”
She looked at her husband's face and he was ashamed and guilty when he clicked his tongue.
“Suzzane, check out the basement and have the cleaning agency clear out what's there, there must be some salvageable and valuable items down there and then find some people to work at the site, the pay is $10-$15 on an average.” Kevin said then carried his son on his shoulders and began ascending the stairs again.
“There's room for more there, and they're recruiting. Ensure the accomodation made for the workers at the quarters is also suitable see that he signs up the recruitment form as well.”
“Of course I will! Thank you!” Suzzane thanked him profusely.
Ryan knew what he meant, he would be given a room in the and the job was for him. It was a meager amount but still better than something.
“Come, I'll show you to the place.”
Ryan walked closely behind his sister as she walked out of the building. They got into a old looking car which she drove, it was the only thing she could call hers, a discarded old car.
She spoke soft words to him throughout their drive to the destination. The car halted in front of a company and they alighted.
“Adipose textiles Inc.” Ryan read the block letters that hung above the building.
