Athena‘s POV
"Athena," Alpha Tristan called, his voice soft and smooth as honey. I kept my eyes on the floor in front, my hands fiddling with each other in the hem of the oversized shirt I wore. My knees hurt from kneeling, but I couldn't dare stand up. "Who is after you?"
"I...I don't know." I said softly. "I can't go out. If they find me... they'll take me back to that cage. " And Crystal would have died for nothing. I can't let his death be in vain. Not for any reason at all.
"Look at me." Alpha Tristan commanded, but his command wasn't like that man at all. His, was kind. And I raised my head and looked at him. "Get up." He said again. I slowly got to my feet.
"I can't tell you," I said. I forced myself to look into his eyes. He's the kindest alpha I've ever seen. I was a rogue and yet he didn't kill me. He had someone take care of me, and now he gave me this wonderful room. "I can't tell you because I don't know." I said, so it wouldn't look like I was hiding things from him.
His expression became very sad. "I understand." He said. "I'll tell them to get some things for you."
"You don't have to." I said quietly. "I already owe you a lot."
"Don't think of it as a debt, think of it as a kindness from a friend."
I stared at him. This kind and warm man. "M-my friend?"
He nodded. "Yes. I'm your friend, am I not?"
I felt my cheeks burn. My friend. I didn't have any friends, and the only friend I had was brutally murdered right in front of me. And I couldn't do anything to help him.
I looked at Alpha Tristan. Surely he's not the kind of man who will be killed easily. He's a strong man, he's an alpha. I felt his presence the first time I saw him. My eyes were drawn to his right hand and the assortment of tattoos all over his arm.
"My friend." I said in a whisper and my mind drifted to Cody. His dark green eyes filled my mind and I felt my cheeks burn even more.
Will he be my friend if I ask? He mentioned that mate bond, and he got angry when I said I didn't feel it. I doubt he would want to be my friend after all.
"Athena, don't worry too much okay?" Alpha Tristan said. "You're safe here, and whoever those people are won't dare breach the borders of white fang pack."
I nodded. And yes, I believed him. But I still won't go outside. He doesn't know those people, or the extent they would go to.
I smiled up at Alpha Tristan. "Thank you, alpha."

I spent my day in my new room. I had explored it more than ten times. Someone brought some food for me, I tried to eat but the excitement won't allow me to do so. I laid on my bed, staring up at the ceiling.
I wondered how that man was doing now. He was probably angry, throwing a fit about how I got away. I wonder if he killed anyone else aside from Crystal. Knowing him, he probably did.
But I'm safe here. He can't get to me, and I'll be fine.
A knock sounded on the door. "Athena?" A soft feminine voice called. "Are you in there?" Another said.
I sat up and faced the door. "Yes, come in,"
The door opened and two girls walked in. They carried multiple shopping bags and from the look of it, it was weighing them down. I rushed to help them out and one of them raised a hand .
"Don't, you're our guests" She said.
"It's fine," The other girl said.
I nodded, feeling awkward as they carried the bags into my room. They dropped it close to my bed and turned to me.
"Hello, you must be wondering who we are,"
I took a closer look at them. They looked alike, having the same brown eyes and golden hair. They were very beautiful, like models. One of them smiled and I felt like I was looking at alpha Tristan, but his female version.
"You're Alpha Tristan's sisters?" I asked. The resemblance was too obvious.
"Yes! That's right!" One of them moved closer to me and extended a hand for a handshake. "My name is Milena. This is my sister Morrigan. And yes, we are twins."
I shook her hand. "It's nice to meet you."
I looked closer at them. Even though they looked practically the same, Milena was dressed in pale pink and pastel tones. Morrigan wore a more muted color of green and blue.
"We got you something." Milena said and gestured to the bags. "Brother said you didn't have any clothes whatsoever. So we got what you might like."
Morrigan walked closer to me. "what she means is she picked out bright and pink clothes for you."
Milena shot her a playful glare. "And you chose all your drab and gray clothes "
"It's a fashion statement. I wouldn't expect you to understand." Morrigan said with an eye roll. Her eyes met mine and softened. "We picked out a lot of stuff, anyone you don't like, we will return it."
"T-that won't be necessary." I said and shook my head.
Milena slung an arm over my shoulders and pulled me to the bed. "Don't be shy, okay? You can be yourself here. No one is going to judge you. My goodness, you're so stiff."
I can be myself.
That's the problem.
Who am I? I don't even know the answer to the question.
I sat on the bed and watched as the twins took out the clothes and shoes and accessories they had bought. Milena gave me a bag of sweets and told me it was the best chocolate cake in town.
I felt dizzy with all the clothes they were bringing out. How can I wear them all if I don't even plan on going out?
Morrigan stopped halfway and looked at me. "Ah f**k," She muttered.
"What?" Milena asked.
"We didn't get her a phone!”
