The second Everett parks the car outside the pack house, I bolt out of the car so fast that I almost stumble over my own feet.
Behind me, I can hear Everett shouting. “My Luna, wait up!”
“There is no time to wait. I have to see Caden!”
“But you’re not supposed to be leaving me behind! What if someone ambushes you the second you open the door? I wouldn’t be able to live with myself!”
“We are at home, Everett,” I answer him over my shoulder with my heart pounding in my chest. “It will be fine. You’re a great bodyguard, but I can handle this.”
